Trevor is in the far back left hand room of the Merchants guild, with the book in your inventory, tell him about Malcom, then you get in the merchants guild. Also, make sure you ask him about a reward, and he asks you if you want a money reward or to "have dinner with him", chose the money reward, he compliments you on your businesslike ways and gives you some cash.
