I usually play games with my character wielding a mace as I like the "chunkiness" of them. Right now I have the Bat of Striking, and it is pretty lethal early in the game. For my warrior, is there a better class of weapon in the long term so I don't plop a ton of points into a poor weapon choice? Thanks

The game is fairly biased towards swords, with a lot more unique, potentially good swords in the game compared to other weapon types.

However, warriors should have plenty of skill points, especially if they rely on purchased spell books and quest rewards for mage spells. You should easily be able to max two weapon expertise skills, if you are so inclined.

Free skills, and spell books you can buy

Yeah, in DD there are so much different weapons smile .... fantastic beatiful RPG !!
I'm playing in DD now a female Mage (Lana, now level 19) and have lot's of fun with using frequently bows (just put only 1 point in Bow Expertise) and also many other weapon types ! Also used many times the "Bat of Striking" because this Mace (by me) has some great special damages (like Frost!) ...

But later in the game you will see there're so much differend great weapons to by found/buy, you can't count them all I think,
or, at least, you can't carry them all ... :hihi:

Have a fantastic RPG experience with this Masterpiece !

*sigh*

Last time I browsed through this forum, this was the topic I posted on.

I say that maces are better, as they get 40% more of your total str dmg + wpn dmg (which is basically all your attack damage) from their mastery. The best mace you can find is a rank 5 morningstar, which will have 5 less modifiers than the abundant unique swords. A good trade by far, I think, since you already have TONS of stat modifiers from armor and only a few of the weapon-only modifiers are good (elemental dmg and drains namely). The problem is that you would have to get the rank 5 as a random drop, and there would be no chance for save/load cheese after you moused over it.

If you tell me where you can find a rank 5 morningstar with any consistency, I'll pick the game up again to make the ultimate uber warrior, heh
