Yet again another shit ending with these people again denied the battle with Damian. Kind screwed up showing trailers and videos turning into a dragon in broken valley when it is not at all possible to do since is how you simply can not return there.
Your stuck in a freaking city and underneath of it and the only time you get to be the dragon is at the end of the game. If there is another one I simply will not be wasting my money on anymore of this from these people. Have a nice day and take your game and shove it up your ass larian.

It was SO bad you played it till the end. All 50+ hours of it?

Amazing.

So if you fought Damian at the end rather than Ygerna, it would have been a good game?
You do realize in any series of games, if you defeat the main badguy in one game, then in the next it will turn out he wasn't really the main badguy, an evil apprentice will take over the organization and be just as bad, a cult will form dedicated to resurrecting the old badguy, or other badguys you never heard about in the previous games will rush in and try to fill the power vacuum left the death of the previous head badguy?

Were there videos showing the player character transforming in Broken Valley? Refresh my memory...

There was originally a Broken Valley type area in FoV (shown in the background of the DKS website), but doing everything would have delayed the release by the better part of a year. During development Larian figured overall the game needed a central hub of human activity more than it needed another dragon area, so that is what they focused on.

Larian has two more RPGs in development, scheduled for release next year.

Have a nice day yourself (hopefully you've calmed down by now and gotten over your tantrum).

I'd take this as a compliment. People getting this emotional over a video game, means they really got themselves invested in the game and the game henceforth was really good. wink

Actually, I would only be questioning Larian's competence at proper storytelling if the Dragon Knight HAD killed Damian.

Damian's entire existence, and the reason for his fall was because of Lucian. Damian is the responsibility of Lucian. Since Lucian turned out to be alive, he was the one who needs to kill Damian, to atone for his mistake born out of love and hope. Also, since Damian is fueled by the soul of an evil god, it makes sense for Lucian to be the one to kill him, because he is also fuelled with the soul of seven gods.

While Damian is the big bad of the franchise, there is no personal connection between Damian and the Dragon Knight that really gives the player emotional investment. He shows up a few times, sends a few easily defeatable goons after you, then runs off.

As soon as I heard about the expansion coming, I knew that the final boss could only be Ygerna. Ygerna had spent the majorioty of the game talking to the Dragon Knight, the player, guiding him to the goal, and then she betrayed him. That's a personal connection, that's where the emotional investment for the player of the game came from.

Would it have been great if there was more gameplay besides Aleroth? Of course. But you do have to understand that there are limitations of time and money, especially for a studio like Larian.

Shut up OP. No one was denied battle against Damien. Why should your character fight him? If you had played Divine Divinity, you would know that it really should be The Divine's destiny to fight Damien and not The Dragon Knight's destiny. Stabbey explained everything above in more detail. Damien is the big bad and Divine is the big good. The Dragon Knight was played by Ygerna NOT Damien. It was only fitting that she was the end boss.

So the expansion doesn't allow you to transform into a dragon till the end? That makes the game bad? It is an RPG where you have to speak to people. The expansion just focused on quests more which required you to use your brain, there's nothing wrong with that.

Obviously you haven't played the game far enough OP. You CAN return to Broken Valley as a dragon. Try it.
If you're talking about returning when it hasn't been destroyed, why would it matter? Just because EARLY trailers showed some footage of flying in Broken Valley, doesn't mean it would remain that way, every is subject to change and there was originally meant to be day and night cycles and early images even showed this but things change.

Obviously you also skipped to the expansion and thought the ending quest where you turn into a dragon was the only point in the game when that happened. You fail OP and so does this thread and so all I have left to say is this:

Your last post was last year complaining about the ending of Ego. If the game was shit then, why did you buy DKS? Seriously:

Divinity is an ungoing series. It's not like Dragon Age which features different stories with no connection to one another. That doesn't make it rubbish or a "rip off" look at TES for rip off games.

Damian would be too mighty in the end.

Even now - if it comes true what is hined at - throughout the whole Divinity series - then it will be a MASSIVE fight against him.

No-one will be able to stop him, nearly no-one.

Maybe instead of direct fight we (or divine) will use some sort of plot device or some trick to take Damian powers away?

And about OP, there will be next games where we can defeat Damian, so no need to be angry.

Damien would OWN The Dragon Knight, only The Divine stands a chance against him. Divine is basically a god and Damien is basically a demon god. It makes sense for them to battle. It's the ultimate battle between good and evil.

Read the background lore presented in Divinity 1.

I played divinity 1 and know it's lore. What i wanted to say is that use some trick to temporiary take (lock) Damian demonic powers so divine can defeat him.

Or use some plot device to imprison Damian the dammed one ( with divine one self-sacrifice) and hide it, thus setting plot story for divinity 4.

That's only because the DK has bad eyesight in dragon form, and can't see the little guys in order to raze them. biggrin

But yeah, Stabbey said it.

Yes, I'd gladly give up performance or graphics detail to get rid of the blur effect (playing the Xbox version); it is noticeably stronger than in D2:ED.

You know, doesn't the Beyond Divinty hero have a grudge against Damien as well? Damien tricked him as Ygerna tricked the DK. Quite frankly, it shouldn't the Dragon Knight who kills Damien, either Divine or the Beyond Divinity hero should kill Damien...

Whatever did happen to the BD hero anyway?

No one knows what happened to the BD hero. But it's been 50 years, so he or she is old, and possibly dead by now.

still since the dragon kinght did kill ygerna there should be a battle between damian and the dragon kinght because now he has reason to fight the dragon knight as was his reason for wanting to fight/kill the divine so to those of you who say there is no reason for a battle between damian and the dragon knight suck on it ass clown.

I think the points people were making are that it's more thematically appropriate for the Divine to take on Damian and that he's the only one powerful enough to realistically stand a chance. And in theory, Damian already had reason to fight the dragon knight as soon as he started destroying his fortresses and killing his generals.

In any case, I fail to see how any of this makes the game a ripoff. Plenty of games have bad endings - the final areas are often the most rushed part of the game due to the developers running out of time - and some barely even have stories at all (e.g., roguelikes). What makes them worthwhile is the fun you have playing them, of which the last battle is only a minor part.

Regarding your other point, trailers often contain content that aren't in the game, since they come months before the game has actually been finalized. It would be one thing if they marketed the game as having features it didn't (Bethesda and Lionhead have been pretty bad about this in the past), but showing a scene that was later cut hardly qualifies.

Trolollolololol eh? The Dragon Knight doesn't have much reason to fight Damien. Damien has reason to fight The Dragon Knight but keep in mind that Ygerna was also killed by The Divine One and Damien is still pretty PO'D about that too.

To make is simpler for you to understand:

The Divine One = God
Damien = Satan

The Dragon Knight is just a random guy/gal brought into the conflict. It really wouldn't make sense for him to fight Damien when The Divine One was given the powers to fight the demon inside Damien. Damien is a demon and The Divine One is a god. Dragon Knight isn't anything, he/she isn't even immortal. Divine is the embodiment of all that is good. Damien is the emobodiment of all that is evil. It makes sense for them to fight (good vs evil) than some Random guy to go up against the Big Bad.

Further more, if you had played the previous games, you'd realize that Damien has a DEMON in him. It's most likely that after the death of Ygerna, he let go of his humanity and The Demon of Chaos has been released. I doubt The Demon of Chaos will even care about Ygerna's death but he'll care about The Divine One defeating him (as The Demon of Lies) all those years back in Divine Divinity.

For me, the series is about The Divine One and The Damned One. Not about The Dragon Knight. I'm sorry you fill ripped-off but fans of the original will fill even more ripped off if the series came to abrupt end by having some stupid random Dragon guy killed Damien. It would pretty much make the events of Divine Divinity senseless since The Divine was given his powers to defeat the demon inside Damien and I'm hoping he does do that. Dragon Knight at best will be the General of The Divine One's army.

If the random banter of Lar_q is true, then we'll be in control of a Kingdom in the next Divinity. Sounds like we'll be playing as The Divine One...

The fact that the new isometric Divinity is Larian's "next true RPG" shows us that it's probably the continuation of the series as opposed to project D - the new dragon knight game - which is probably a spin-off. The new isometric Divinity probably stars The Divine One in some form or another.

It should be for The Divine One to fight The Damned One. They have rival power. They are both supernatural. Even their titles are basically the opposite of each other. It makes sense. The Dragon Knight had his revenge after killing Ygerna.
