Hi all, just started playing this game and all I can think is how did this pass me by, one of the best rpg's i've ever played, imo better than Oblivion (although must say I'm really looking forward to Skyrim) I'm pretty old school where rpg's are concerned and this game stands head and shoulders above any rpg from the last few years, I think it will certainly keep my interest until Skyrim arrives at the very least, I'd like to say so many good things about this game but am too eager to get back playing it lol. Good work Larian :))) hope to see more in a similar vein from you soon

Larian has another couple projects on the go (scheduled for release next year). See Lar's post here for the first details, and there were some earlier comments in the older topic Status update. The latest news is in the more recent Status update and Status update (long overdue) topics. The most recent Status update - June 9th 2011 topic doesn't really contain any game details; it's more behind the scenes stuff. Welcome to the forum.

I'm the same way! I actually just went out and bought Divinity 2: DKS today after borrowing my friends Divinity 2: Ego Draconis. xD I got to lvl 15 as a Range/Mage hybrid but then got worried because I felt like I messed up because I'm a perfectionist like that. ^^; I have to say though, there are MAJOR differences in Ego and DKS, namely the fact that the first few levels aren't as hard, but that also means they had to nerf a few of the rewards, or so I have seen. After playing Ego then DKS I was like "Omg, why is everything so easy...there were more mobs here last time...what is going on?!" Haha. And like you, I bought this to keep me held over until Skyrim comes around. I also bought Risen, not sure how good that is though... I assume this is way better, it's in my top favorite RPGs now. <3 Agree, great work and I look forward to what you guys make. :3

I played a strength based duel wielding warrior in D2:ED (on normal difficulty), and am playing a pure ranger in DKS (on nightmare). At the start of DKS I used a little unarmed melee combat as a backup, but after I got up a few levels I no longer needed to (when I put a couple skill points into Splitting Arrows I re-assigned that skill to the button I had melee attack on). I still want to try an unarmed warrior, though, so I'll have to start a new character after I'm done with my current one. Welcome to the forum.

For me the diffences between Ego draconis and DKS version are a Blast ! The changes are great improvement for Divinity II. Ego Draconis was already my favorite rpg above all (just only DD I can't resist playing again !) ... And the DKS is for me way more fun and pleasure to play than Oblivion ... I like the Humour in DKS sooooooooooo much !! I look out for Skyrim, but also for Kingdoms of Amalur & of course the next Larian games all the way more !!

Raze, I read about your Archer build in the "Who's playing DKS on Nightmare difficulty?" thread and it made me want to try it actually. c: Though, this time if I go with Ranger I'm sticking with just Range because swapping between Magic, though powerful, just felt like I wasn't using either to it's fullest potential. \: Though, before I try anything on Nightmare, I want to beat the game with each basic class and perfect it. ^^;
Joram, you have superb taste in RPG's my friend. And I agree, the differences from Ego to DKS are amazing?! For example, I don't know if it was just me, or if I didn't notice, but I played Ego and nothing graphically amazing popped out at me. But as soon as I popped in DKS, I walked like 2 feet and saw the blade on my back shimmer in the sun. And I just though "That was so not in Ego..." Or if it was, I didn't notice. xD I like this game because it's different but still has that same good...thing to it that all the staple mondern RPG's have. TES, Fallout, Dragon Age, ME, Fable. They are all different but they have that something that sets them apart and makes them worth playing. This is #3 on my list only falling short of Oblivion in 1 and Dragon Age: Origins in 2. Fallout 3 would be 4th, lol.
Also, the soundtrack in this game is AMAZING. In most games, I'll be honest, I mute the TV and listen to my Ipod because I feel like the soundtracks in games are just so...not fitting with the mood the game is portraying. This game however, executes it perfectly and I love it.
As for the humor, I think it's better than Fable's and that is what they were supposed to be known for. So~ Great game and I am enjoying every second of it.

I don't recall if there was a shimmer effect on the weapons in D2:ED, but they did look better with the camera zoomed in (using target lock, or during cutscenes or conversations). Improvements to the graphics in DKS included the weapons and armour, though, so the closer camera only accounts for part of the difference. The composer Kirill Pokrovsky has links on his website to download a fair chunk of the D2:ED soundtrack, and more.

Is there a place where I could just like, talk about what I'm doing in the game. Like how you guys do in the Nightmare Diff challenge thread. (: I don't know why, but I just feel like sharing. ^^;

OP and Twilight really need to play Divine Divinity...Divine Divinity basically offers you complete freedom which may come as a surprise after playing DKS. In Divine Divinity, you can kill innocent townsfolk, freely the explore the huge world (which is quite a big world, bigger than DKS's world, I'm 15 hours in and have only scratched the surface of the world and still...I haven't even tackled the main quest that much), interact with any object, pick up any object and you can even get your own house (or steal one if the owner...dies) and then put down a teleportor stone in it and then call it your home.
You can also sleep in beds and the dialogue is just as great as dialogue from DKS.
Divine Divinity is the first Divinity game BTW. Combat is more strategic too. It's my game of the year (despite it being released in 2002) and certainly one of the best RPGs I have played for some time.
DKS and The Dragon Knight are good but they are children compared to Divine Divinity and its hero. Seriously, you have to save very often because you never expect what could happen next, you could touch a magical object which teleports you half way across the world into the middle of an orc camp and if you're lv 5, consider yourself dead as a giant orc warrior with a two handed axe charges over to you.

Twilight; You can just start your own topic (there isn't an existing one). Joram started the DKS nightmare topic, and has a couple topics for different characters in Divine Divinity. Demonic; Killing most non-essential friendly NPCs in Divine Divinity (essential ones should be protected) results in a reputation drop (at least if you use direct attacks), which can eventually have serious consequences. You can not pick up any object, though there are a fair number of useful and not useful objects that you can move or pick up, and others you can interact with. In general there is more world interaction in DD than DKS. I liked in DD that NPCs would react to you stealing their stuff (or in some cases even approaching certain areas or moving items). There was an easy exploit to get around that, though, and at least with merchants a way to avoid negative consequences of getting caught. Of course, in DD no matter how powerful your character becomes, their path can be blocked by a two foot high ledge.

I watched a few videos for Divine Divinity and now I want it. xD I reminds me of this game I used to play also, though I don't remember the name of it, it was good. I love old-er games because even though their graphics aren't grand, they have everything else done wonderfully...or most games do anyways.

I welcome you, Twilight ... and thanks for the compliments you give me ... you make my day ! Divine Divinity is a RPG I think I can't stop play it (and replay it) ! So addictive, so fun, so awesome ! Maybe only Larian's upcoming project E (also with isometric view like DD) can stop me to play DD and play that project E for ... ages !! Recently I take back a look into the original Ego Draconis (Xbox) version (because of a small bug in DKS) ... and I was really shocked HOW big the changes are between ED and DKS !! Graphical much more nice & shiny, the UI a way much better and I also noticed immediately (while running with my hero) the DKS is a way smoother than ED !! Demonic ... I wish you good luck with DD and have fun !! On this moment I have 2 hero's in DD (both female, but one is a Mage L19, the other a Survivor L11).

@Raze
That's the charm of the game. Killing random people like a loony can have consequences that are dire, nowadays, some RP games (Oblivion springs to mind) don't punish you enough when you commit a crime.
@Twilight
You best finish DKS before you get DD then, both are long games with plenty of content, once I'm done with DD, I'm getting Beyond Divinity which is yet another Divinity game.
Then if all goes well, we will be getting another TWO NEW Divinity games next year.

O Demonic ... then I think we (I, for sure) can play ENDLESS* all these RPG's of the Larian Team ! Yes !!! * or at least for, let's say, 10 years and more .... Thinking about Divine Divinity from 2002 ... next year we're in 2012 ... ten years ... and I'm still playing DD ... Beyond Divinity I haven't maked it to chapter two ... but when I'm EVER bored of playing all the other Larian RPG's, maybe then I play back BD ...

You have been playing the same game for 10 years? Wow. The only thing I have been playing remotely that long is Morrowind, or Runescape, but I stopped playing that 2 years ago, so that was only 8 years...
Demonic, I will definitely finish DKS first. I plan to finish it a few times before even playing anything else, haha. I have many ideas for builds I want to try, including one that tries to finish the game with the lowest possible lvl, which will prove to be very challenging. C: I think using a combination of debuffs, on top of the best possible gear, Charm, a lot of reloading it MIGHT be possible. Just might be.
Needless to say, I have high hopes for DKS and it's replayability. <3

Not exactly 10 years ... ... some "time periods" in my life I did not play any game for months ! And further on : you 8 years Morrowind ... You win ... because I discovered DD not in the year 2002, but in 2004/2005 ... so for now at least 6/7 years I play DD (with times not playing any game incluse) ... however ... I can't count the hundred of hours I already spend playing DD !! PS: To know this : in the year of 2002, when I was 30 years old, I bought my own very first computer. Before that time I never used any kind of computer ...

Game I played most is Knights of the Old Republic II. Not surprising seeing how I work on the Restoration Mod for it, testing takes quite some time and replays.
Game that keeps me getting back all the time is Majesty, a 2000 game I occassionally do again from time to time.
DKS probably has no chance to beat either, but it's a very good game in it's own right. Not many games I wish to replay instantly after finishing... Although many games prevent me from finishing it now...

DKS certainly had replayabilty for me (not as much as Origins' replay value) because you can basically create different classes each time. Unlike some RP games, different classes change gameplay a bit, there are also choices to make, they may not be as complex or story altering as some other RP games but they are there and sometimes you will actually see their effects and some choices will lead to further quests.
