I wanted to ask if you consider the removal of the copy-protection check in a future check?

It would create at least some buzz about the game and also be nice to all customers who now would not have to search for the DVD (or have them ready in the drive) if they want to replay the game.
This is just as thought as Divinity 2 + AddOn are not that new anymore.

Apart from that, how's Divinity 3 coming along? wink

They've already said they would eventually remove the copy protection, though didn't give any details.
Larian's previous games are on Good Old Games with no copy protection (and even with the disk versions the last patch for Beyond Divinity removed the copy protection, and Divine Divinity only needs the disk to play a couple cutscene videos).

You don't need a disk to play DKS.

So... what ARE you asking for?

In D2:ED the copy protection for the retail release could cause problems if it did not detect the disk in a drive (such as being attacked by high level rich bandits at the start of the game, or getting thousands of skill points on reaching level 15). Was that changed in DKS? I don't recall any official comments about this.

I didn't encounter that, and I didn't have the disk in my drive after installing, playing all through DKS...

Hassat_Hunter, you don'T happen to own the steam-version? wink

If you have the AddOn installed, you only need the AddOn DVD for ED. Here, it won't start without that so if you have not the steam-version I do not know what version you might have (unless you threw a NoCD on it or have it pirated ;)).

Does DKS come without Copy Protection? I play Retail ED + Retail AddOn.

*snuggles box* No way!

And you probably want to use the DKS update patch. After that, well, your problems wash away wink.

The non-German releases of FoV were digital only, so presumably would not need the D2:ED DVD.

I assume the retail releases of DKS do have copy protection (since the digital versions all do), but only check during install (since apparently there is no disk check when the game is started).

Yes, you do need to activate it online once. But that's all...
(and install the patch of course)
