I'm at the part of the game where you have just spoken to Zandalor for the first time, and you're set off to go find the tower in the valley. Soon after, I was running down the road and noticed there was a troll standing in the middle of it. I approached, and a cutscene plays where Merrill laments the fact that he can't handle the monster, and the camera spins around the troll while the text of Merrill speaking and cursing Louis appears at the bottom of the screen.

Problems:

1) There is no audio during this. No voices, no fighting sounds.
2) There is no animation from the troll (other than its idle animation of standing there).
3) Merrill and company are not actually there. There's nobody there except the troll.
4) The troll just stands there for eternity. It never attacks anyone or anything, and it can't be attacked or interacted with in any way.

I reloaded from a previous save that was prior to the big "meeting the last dragon knight" scene where she turns you into a dragon. After going through that scene and talking to Zandalor again, the bug is still persisting.

I did a search on these forums and found that someone else had a similar issue where only one of the drunks shows up and dies, but the troll remains "friendly", but in my case.. NOBODY shows up. What could have possibly caused this? Also, Anthony, one of the guys who is supposed to die at this scene, is still hanging out in town.

I guess what I really want to know is: Am I missing out on anything other than getting to kill this troll? Are there any followup quests or anything I should worry about this having an effect on?

Thanks.

You are not missing anything other than getting to kill the troll. That cutscene is the final result of getting the seekers sent on a punitive mission, either in the Black Boar inn, or latter if you rat them out after they tell you about Louis' secret stash (which they only do if you don't get them punished in the inn).

Did you install the patch before you started the game? Digital download versions should already be updated, though. There was a bug where certain NPCs could be missing (though it generally happened with enemy NPCs involved in cutscene conversations), which should be prevented by the patch, but not fixed if it has already occurred in the save.

You can try emailing support@larian.com about this, with a description of the problem and maybe a link to this topic, but they are currently on vacation and will not be back to work until next week. See the appropriate support page for DKS or FoV.

Thanks for the quick response. I don't really mind the bug that much as long as it doesn't have any long-term consequences. As you have said, it doesn't!

I have the Steam version, so it should be up to date. Maybe it was just a weird quirk with the specific combination of choices I made during the sidequests. Who knows! I suppose as far as bugs go, it could have been worse. xD

I appreciate the welcome and the information!

I also have this issue.

I'm using the german DVD version of the game with the beta patch to the dark knight saga.
