I didn't see a bug report form anywhere, so here are the bugs I've encountered with the latest patch:

1) When I met Talana, the game consistently freezed on the loading screen when trying to load the scene where you play as a dragon for the first time (the scene between meeting her and meeting Damian for the first time). Turning all graphics options down to their lowest made this go away. I'll try lowering them one-by-one the next time I play to see if I can pinpoint the problem.

Edit: The relevant setting appears to be Dynamic Geometry Distance Rendering under the Graphics tab in the Options menu. Setting this to anything but low causes the game to freeze while loading the scene. Additionally, the game may freeze even if this is set to low if it has been open for too long.

2) The quest "Sight For Sore Eyes" is bugged in the following manner: if you obtain the two malachite gems the quest requires, the quest updates. And if they leave your inventory (e.g., by putting them in your battle tower chest), the quest is restarted. But when you get the gems again, the game doesn't recognize this and re-update the quest, so when you talk to Simeon the only option available is to end the conversation. (And yes, I made sure that I had malachite gems and not just ore in my inventory.)

3) Asking the bard to play different music in the battle tower stops working after a while. He'll agree to do so but the music will stay the same. Based on another post, this may be related to starting a song and leaving the tower before it has a chance to finish. I'll test this on my next playthrough to see if this appears to be correct.

4) This may or may not be a bug, but the enemies labelled "Black Ring Sorceror" in Keara's fortress have the appearance of demons, whereas all other Black Ring troops appear as humans.

I'll update the thread as I encounter more and figure out the specifics of 1 and 3.

1) I don't recall anyone else reporting a problem here.

2) There was an old topic where someone needed to find their battle tower chest to get malachite gems to do this quest. That might have been in the original release of D2:ED, though. Maybe later I'll load an old save (backed up on a flash drive) and see if I have a problem (with the North American Xbox version).

3) As you found, that is a known issue.

I loaded a save after getting the battle tower, headed to the fjords, dropped the barrier, talked to Simeon and then headed to the spot you meet the traveling merchant (to buy his malachite gem) before going to the depleted ore mine (on my second reload there I got 2 malachite gems anyway).
Sending the gems to the battle tower does revert the status of the quest, but when I moved the gems out of the chest, the quest was also updated, and I could give 2 of them to Simeon to complete it.

1) At least one other person has had this problem, as I saw the problem reported on the Steam forums (link); that's the only reason I thought to try lowering the graphics options in the first place. I'll add my system specs when I get back on that computer in case it's related to my graphics card or something.

2) I'm not sure what you mean by needing to find the battle tower chest? The problem, as far as I can tell, is that I put my gems in there in the first place. The reason I think so is because of how the sequence of quest messages occurred:

First, I started the quest and got the "New Quest Accepted" message.
Second, I obtained the two malachite gems and got the "Quest Updated" message.
Third, I put the gems in my chest and got the "New Quest Accepted" message again (much like how turning goblin hearts in to Richard causes "New Quest Accepted: Hearttaker" to display again).
Finally, whenever I obtained the gems again (whether by pulling them out of my chest or through some other method, like completing the well quest at High Hall), I didn't get the "Quest Updated" message again, and Simeon failed to recognize that I had them.

This suggests to me that some variable in the game's code failed to reset when the quest was restarted, probably because it wasn't designed with the restart in mind the way Hearttaker is. So for example the game, having already changed the "2 malachite gems in inventory" variable, didn't "think" to check it again as is required for the quest stage to update. This is just a guess on my part, though.

Edit: Just noticed your second message - that's odd. Perhaps it's a difference between the Xbox and PC versions? The only other thing I did differently is to put the gems in the chest directly rather than sending them from the inventory, but I doubt that would make a difference.

Edit2: One other thing I should note is that I was able to complete the quest before putting the malachite gems in the chest (so whatever bug is occurring began at or after that point). I reloaded after doing so because I wanted to get closer to the end of the game and evaluate whether I'd be better off with the malachite or the skill points, but the quest definitely can be completed in my game, even if not in this particular playthrough.

I meant someone else sent malachite gems to the battle tower (I think before getting the quest, though), and posted asking where the chest was (they had missed it going through the masters chambers) so they could retrieve the gems. They were able to do so and complete the quest.

There may be a difference between the PC and Xbox versions. AFAIK, though, there weren't any additional bug fixes or changes done for the Xbox version compared to the second PC patch. If the problem was in the interface, that could account for the difference, or there may be other factors involved (length of time since getting the quest, or something).

Try emailing support@larian.com, with a description of the problem and maybe a link to this topic (DKS support page). Maybe with your save they can figure out what caused the problem, and could probably fix the quest, in any case.

I already did that, based on your advice in another topic from someone else experiencing a similar problem. Thanks for that, by the way.

Edit: Did some more testing, and my original hypothesis below appears to have been slightly off. I've corrected it now.

This appears to be related the "Dynamic Geometry Distance Rendering" setting under the graphics tab of the options menu (but that setting isn't the sole culprit; see next paragraph). If I set it to low, the next scene loads just fine; anything higher causes the game to freeze while loading. I can have all other settings maxed out and the scene will usually load, and no matter how low I set everything else, setting this to medium or higher will cause the game to freeze while loading.

However, even with DGDR at low, the scene doesn't always load. If I've just started up the game, it will, but if I've been playing for a while (or even just had it open on the title screen), it won't. So there may be some sort of memory issue as well. But the DGDR setting is definitely involved in some form or another, because the scene will *never* load if I don't have it set to low, even on a fresh restart.

I should also note that I have no problem with any of the other dragon sequences in the game (although I haven't played through FoV on this computer yet), despite playing at maximum settings. Whatever the problem is, it appears to be unique to this scene.

I can't edit my original post anymore. Is there a time limit for editing on these forums?

Anyway, I have two more things that appear to be bugs to add to the list:

5) The game often fails to display the experience gained upon defeating a foe. This isn't a big problem on its own, as the game usually adds it anyway and you can usually cause it to display by quickly entering and exiting your inventory. However, on very rare occasions the game fails to actually give you the experience. I think that there may be some specific trigger for this. When fighting Ba'al in the Broken Valley mine, I saved just before defeating him and was able to reload my game several times and not get experience for the kill if I didn't move closer and attacked right away upon reloading. Unfortunately, it didn't occur to me to back up this save - which was a quicksave - until after I wrote over it.

6) The Librarian in Maxos' Temple no longer gives you a dragon skill book upon completing the quest "A Tale of Two Tomes", even though he mentions it in his dialogue. I'm pretty sure he gave it to you in the unpatched version of DKS, so this appears to have been changed with one of the patches.

There is a 48 hour limit on editing posts.

The experience should be listed in the combat log. Most of the time I don't even notice damage and experience listings on screen (though probably would if I was playing the PC version rather than Xbox).

Some of the dragon skill books were moved or removed in DKS. I'm pretty sure the librarian didn't give a skill book even in the unpatched game.
