I was surprised to see the level one enchantments on the list when I first got the Battle Tower and started enchanting, as I usually sold lower-level enchantments. Do you get them as a freebie for getting the Battle Tower, or did I manage to procure them some other way without remembering it? Lancet's FAQ mentions getting them for free if you start FoV directly, but as far as I can see it makes no mention of getting them as freebies with the Battle Tower in ED.

Tangentially, I discovered a few days ago that buying the low-level potion formulae from Lamotte is a good investment to help supplement your income early in the game. Since you get as many free ingredients as you want when you get the Battle Tower, you can freely sell ingredients early in the game without worrying about running out, but you'll only make 1-2 gold per item for most of them. With first-level potions, it's more along the lines of 20-30, and you can even make a minor profit buying ingredients from merchants, making potions, and then selling them. And you get a *ton* of ingredients early in the game, so it doesn't take long to make back what you spent on the formulae. It can help quite a bit if you want to buy a nice weapon from Derk that might disappear if you go up a level.

There are formula given as quest rewards in the battle tower, IIRC, and some in chests.
Whenever you unenchant equipment you learn the formula if you don't already know it, so that eventually helps fill in the enchantment list, as well.
