Why is it so hard to kill Raze with a level 32 Ranger? My build probably sucks and my weapon and armor are probably not the best at that point but still...

If I don't jump around like mad he and his million minions kill me in seconds. I don't even reach the point where he runs to the chambers to heal himself.

I must be doing something completely wrong at this point. Trying to reset my skills doesn't change much.

My build is mostly dex (half of the points went there, the others mostly split between health and mana).

Hi and welcome here,

If you playing a Ranger : have you ever tried the skill Way of the Ranger? Combine this with splitting Arrows and Explosive arrows or if you want more time, use Stun Arrows (use it against Raze!).

Summon your Creature and try a Ghoulish Head for him (do Rush Attact and Fatality, nice in combination with a Ranger build, imo).
Upgrading Summon Ghost is also helpful because the Ghosst can heal you! Or put 1 or 2 points in Hide in Shadows + Healing ! (while you are hided you can use Healing without becoming back visible!) But a warning : using Hide in Shadows did not work while an enemie is attacking you with magic, arrows or melee, so first jump or run a bit away behind a wall or pillar and then use Hide in Shadows!

On both chambers (Raze Healing chamber and the other where his minions appear), you can find a Lever to INactivate them (set OFF) ! Best try first the chamber of Raze his minions. I put the Lever while I was Hided in Shadows! wink
In my case I had the feeling that Raze put back ON those Levers ! So be prepared.

Good luck !

Thanks, I think you helped smile

I built the Ghoulish Head-based creature and maybe it did the trick. Also putting some points into Healing might have helped. Otherwise yes, I'm using Way of the Ranger and the other skills that increase damage and Hide in Shadows to get some time to heal. I did put 9 points into Way of the Ranger this time and got the splitting arrows skill to 10. One of those up close can do huge damage.

Anyway I don't think you can disable the summoning chambers. I think this is supposed to be done really quick.

In the end the creature killed him while I was busy disabling the chambers, hehe. I did reload three or four times though.

Cheers

Glad you make it wink

I love to read all the different skill - builds and how every gamer use their own strategy plan smile

In the very beginning playing Divinity 2 I didn't make any attention to the Priest skills ! But after a while playing I first go for Summon Ghost and that is because of my love for all kind of Ghosts in this game ! They're funny, groovy, wise and cool speaking and nice designed/created ! (the Ghost of Arben was the first Ghost who impressed me, after him the Larian, the 'Librarian' !)

Then I start to search for a strategy to kill Amdusias and I discovered Hide in Shadows sweets me best to surprize him & kill him in melee (Hide in Shadows, run to Amdusias and use Rush Attack ! Together with my summoned Ghost and Creature Amdusias wasn't happy breathing that long :hihi: ...

Master Herbalist was the next skill I try and after that Fear and Charm (great) and also use now Blind ! Love them all, so my next New Game will be a Priest build ! I wish to try first a pure Priest on nightmare. Just very curious if that's surviveble ! If not, I sure take Stun Arrows and use a Bow or a 2-handed sword.

Sorry I go off-topic ... but I'm so ... can't find the words ... I think you can "imagine" it yourself, isn't it ? wink

I can see you like the ghosts by looking at your avatar wink

Amdusias... that nasty bastard ranger! I didn't know about Hide in Shadows back then otherwise I would've tried using it. After too many deaths by his explosive arrows I managed to distract him (with the first summon) and went for his throat smile I learned then that the ranger, unlike in most other games, is still able to use the bow from up close. I didn't know yet how to summon my creature, if you believe that...

Xantosh on Stone's Flying Fortress was another annoying bastard ranger. He would kill me with a sequence of two quick homing attacks that the only way to avoid was to kite him on the outside of his castle walls. It was a long process involving many saves. I knew how to bring the creature to aid me and on the good loads it took most of the abuse smile

There is a save/load/teleport bug: after load or teleport, the enemies lose their targeting and start walking slowly back to their "home" point. If their range is lower than yours and you have Ranger Stealth, it is possible to kill them while they're walking back. Xantosh is not that stupid though, that bastard is clever.

I discovered this bug on accident when the slayers confronted me at Maxos' Temple. They were going to kill me so I ran for potions to the teleport. When I came back I saw them walking towards their "spawn point" and attacked them. They just took it and died... well... I didn't have a save at hand to reload and kill them properly. Also I'm a cowardly ranger so... :P

One or two times I see strange things happen with a demon enemy in, I think that was in Raze or Stone's Flying Fortress : I shoot a normal arrow with a common bow and the demon was immediately stone death !! :hihi:

What I also "sometimes" discovered was that my Creature hasn't a full Health bar when I summon him .

But yeah, nothing is perfect, that's okay. smile

The instant demon enemy kills happened to me too. They looked normal, seemed as high level as any other bad guy but died from a single arrow with seemingly light damage. Anyway demons are not as scary as the archer skeletons or the black ring archers. I save my stun arrows for those smile
