Hi everyone,

Sorry if my post is not in the correct section, if so I want to apologize.

As I have finished Ego Draconis I want to import my character to DKS. I have read on different websites that this is not possible and there was a patch planned which should fix this problem.
Is this true and is there already a patch from Larian studios released which will fix this problem?

Thank you in advance for your helpful answers!

Cheers

Someone from Larian mentioned the hypothetical possibility of a utility to convert a D2:ED save at the end of the Hall of Echoes into a DKS save at the start of FoV, but I don't know if they ever got around to devoting any resources to that.

In DKS you can create a new level 35 character at the start of the FoV section of the game. In this case your battle tower servants are picked randomly, but there are other NPCs that can perform those functions in FoV if you get ones you don't like (personally I didn't care for Allan's personality or Igor's voice). Other than that, you would be upgrading your equipment relatively soon, anyway, etc.

Hello Raze,
thank you for answering.
Yes I also found this mentioned in the internet, but could not find any additional information.
So I think Larian did not thought about it further more?

I guess they figured most people who had the original release of D2:ED and DKS would either want to start a new character anyway (to try a different build or check out the remastered parts of D2:ED) or wouldn't mind re-creating a level 35 version of their old character for FoV.

Thank you Kein for posting.
OK, so after all, someone else have the same problem.. I am not alone wink

I am asking myself if it is a problem to generate a patch to fix this problem?
At the end, it's just an import of a data file (with special settings) to the new game.. which also happen in FoV. I have no experience in compiling software, I am just thinking...

The save file format was changed in DKS, necessitated by changes to skills, equipment, the enchantment system, etc. All of these would have to be considered when converting the D2:ED save, with consideration for game balance as well as compatibility. Testing would require a fair bit of time, while the number of people who would use it is very low now. Shortly after release there would have been more demand, but most people who played the original release of D2:ED and bought DKS either started over to try out the remastered D2:ED or recreated their character in FoV. I would have continued with my D2:ED character into FoV if that was possible and then started a new game in DKS at the beginning, but it wasn't, so I just started a new character.

Technically, it is not a problem of implementation, after all devs know their game as much as no one else. I guess it is a problem of time and resources. They're busy with Dragon Commander now.
