Hello to all smile ,

I recently start to play my very first TBS game* (Civilization Revolution on Xbox, a very cool addictive game !).

Now I always was thinking I never would love that TBS system, but honestly, I love it!
It plays so relaxed because AS long as it is my Turn I can take ALL my time I needed (and I'm definitely a SLOW player) !

Now, as for Dragon commander : I Hope there's a very nice TBS-part to play ?

Another question:
How should the RTS-parts be included into the game?
1) Are they a result/outcome of the TBS decicions I make?
2) Or are they build-in in another way around ?

And what with the RPG elements? Are they included in the TBS or RTS part or is that just another case ?

Now, I'm really looking out for Dragon Commander !
Since I know the Larians can make great games, full of enjoyment, fun, humour and fantastic lovely music sounds, I have the full confidence that Dragon Commander will be at least a 'Gem' on it's own unique way !

Dare to combine TBS with RTS & RPG elements in 1 game speaks of many courageous hearts, or at least one that triggers all the other ones !! wink

The RPG elements happen on your base ship, called the Raven, where you can talk to advisers, generals, your princess, etc and get/complete tasks, and make various decisions (more than in Larian's previous RPGs).
When you leave the Raven, you get to the TBS part, a board game like tactical world map, where you can move troops around, use bonuses you have collected, decide which generals to use, and which battle to take part in yourself. Larian made an actual board game to develop / test this part, and IIRC someone said it might end up as one of the multi-player modes.
The last phase is real time combat, where you can fly around as a dragon and/or direct you allies on what to do, or you can zoom out to a battlefield overview map and play it in RTS style.

This is the exact reason why I still love meaningful turn-based combat in RPGs.
This is also the reason why I refrained from buying any action-RPGs in the past. The Divinity games are the only exceptions, because they have - for my taste - strengths that no other RPG has (good humour, for example, and deep lore - and a good world, design, imho).

I come to a conclusion (probably NOT the finale conclusion!) :

I know that a RPG has the most attraction to me to play them further on (to the end) & play them again and again : a RPG, for me the most addictive genre of games.

Now, I believe that giving a TBS/RTS game many RPG features can BOOST that game in the right direction to become as adictive as a RPG can be, to me ! :hihi:

And give a RPG some (or many) TBS/RTS features let that RPG jump into a higher Dimention !!
Then such game with RPG + TBS + RTS elements become the moooooooooooost addictive game ?

Ooo no ! If that's truth, the Dragon commander become the most addictive game ever ...
.. and I can't stop playing it for days ... ?
Best not to think about it ... biggrin
