Just started this game 4 days ago. Made it to the Sentinal Islands. Can't believe I hardly ever heard a word about this game.

I have an Xbox 360 and an old PS2. I've played the Baldur's Gate DA games, Champions of Norath games, Drakan, Dragon Age Origins, War in the North, Fable games.

Are there any other games this good.. or fairly close to it? Obviously hidden gems still exist in this day and age. I mean wow!

Check out the RPG Chat forum. There are a couple 'best RPG' topics, though IIRC they are mostly PC focused.

Similar to DD/ED by concept and gameplay? Hmm... not sure, but I would like to suggest Risen/Risen2/Gothic series.

If you like rpg's as the Divinity games and such ... I think The Witcher 2 (already on pc, but coming on Xbox Q3 of this year !) can be a good game for you wink

If you like Sci-fi RPG's then the Mass Effect games are a good buy. Also as Joram mentioned the witcher 2 is a good game. It helps to have played the first game though but it's not really needed as you can just read up the story of the game online.

You mentioned Drakan - I'm assuming you have played the PS2 game 'The Ancient's Gates' if so the PC prequel is worth playing & vice versa if you haven't played TAG but played the first game.

I have a small weak laptop. Just using consoles for now. I know I'm missing out. I hear mass effect is good but I have a problem with first person viewing.

Man this game is so good. Way to go Larian. I'm kinda baffled as to why I never heard of this.

I'll check Witcher 2. Risen 2 looks good. SquareEnix.

Ah OK. Drakan is an old game now and will run on most computers but it does need a dedicated graphics card. The typical intel integrated video on most laptops does not work unfortunatley.

Try Neverwinter Nights. Your laptop might work it. You can try a demo first. It's made by Bioware and you can probably pick it up along with expansions for quite cheap. I got lucky and picked it up brand new on Amazon.co.uk for £2.00 (1p for the game, £1.99 for the shipping) and this was 2 years ago. My God, I would have paid full price for the game if I had knew about it back in 2002. You see, back then, I was strictly a console gamer and nothing more.

There is also Divine Divinity which is the first game in the Divinity series. Like NWN, it has a demo you can test on your laptop.

Maybe I should just get myself a decent gaming PC. It's not the money. I just don't want to get sucked in too much of my time. I've heard how addicting some of these are.

And Arokh.. I really loved the Ancient Gates. Even though it was buggy at times it was amazing for a console action rpg. Never played anything like it until I played this. I love these kinds of games.
