Well, technically, it is Dragon Commander that successor of Divinity series.
Project E is a totally new thing, IIRC/

Play it again, duh.
I'm coming up on my fourth Dragon Knight Saga (NOT counting the three Ego Draconis playthroughs I finished), and I've already started a fifth character - a priest, and after that I might try a sisth character after that - an Intelligence-based fighter who uses Healing and not Life Leech.

Kein; Project E is also set in the Divinity Universe (see Lar's post here). Did you read it carefully yourself? It says nothing about Project E on particular, post dated 2010 year, at that moment we didn't know neither about E, neither about D, which means he -- Lar -- could mention any of it an. Consider his note about "classless" thing I can safely assume he was talking about Dragon Commander. New "isometric" RPG from Larian.

So far I know and understand is that Project E will be Divinity III ! And project D = Dragon Commander and this game will come sooner than Divnity III and DC is a TBS-RTS-RPG genre, fully unique in its sort The story of DC plays in time line before Divinity II, even before the first Divnity game I believe, correct me if I'm wrong It's a game one/some of the Larians was just "trying" something and afterwards discovered this "try"(or whatever it was) was a very nice idea and so it grows and become a upcoming new game, certainly & probably (imo) a fantastic fun to play strategy game in which you can play(a roll as it is) your own story !

Kein Lar was talking about an RPG, which excludes Dragon Commander (it has RPG elements, but as far as I have seen is primarily a strategy/action game). I suppose they could have been working on one RPG (the topic being on their next title), and then diverted attention to Dragon Commander and Project E, rather than Lar's comments referring to Project E. I'd still guess Project E is probably set in the Divinity Universe, though, unless they wanted a change of pace.
Joram We know there will be a Divinity 3, but the plot of Project E has not been confirmed. What little we know matches Divinity 3, but it is still an assumption that they are one and the same.

@Kien Dragon Commander isn't an action RPG and I don't think it has classes. Dragon Commander is rather a hybrid (RTS, RPG, Action). Project E is very much a top down RPG as Swen states within this blog post. Both Project D and E are set in the Divinity universe as Lar says here. My retail distributors are now telling me that Dragon Commander has great potential, but because it has so many new elements, we will need time to explain it to players, so if we don’t that well, it’ll be a catastrophe. They’re also telling me that our top down RPG is exactly what players want, and that the mix between innovation and core shows great strategy on our part.Anyway we'll discover what Project E truly is at E3. It's top down, it's in the Divinity universe but is it truly Divinity III or some spin-off? After playing through Divine Divinity and Baldur's Gate, I can certainly say that I love isometric games and hopefully Project E is just as great as Divine Divinity if not greater. @OP Get Divine Divinity. It should work on most modern computers/laptops and if you're unsure about it then try the demo .

Divinity Divinity is an obvious and the only choice. You can purchase it cheaply on GoG.com.

Divine Divinity is the first game, and is generally considered to be better. There are some things I liked more about Beyond Divinity, but if you have to choose between them, Divine Divinity is the one to get.
You may be able to find the disk version of both games online (eBay, etc), or you can get the download versions from GOG (or Impulse). The download version of Divine Divinity adds support for widescreen and higher resolutions than the disk version supported, as well as a few relatively minor changes and bug fixes. The download and disk versions of Beyond Divinity are the same.

I brought a disk version of Divine Divinity on Amazon and simply downloaded the latest patch from the web.
As for Beyond Divinity, I started playing it at the start of this year and then I came across that inventory glitch. I followed Raze's instructions (can't remember what they were) to fix the inventory glitch and the result was that the glitch was fixed but at the cost of my save. Thankfully I hadn't got to far into the game but I haven't bothered to start again either. Currently playing Baldur's Gate series at the moment so I don't really have time for Beyond Divinity which I can say - from my time spent playing it - is inferior to Divine Divinity.
Beyond Divinity feels like the emphasis is on looting and killing more and during my four hours of play, I didn't encounter much dialogue as opposed to Divine Divinity which contains lots of dialogue at some parts. However, I did enjoy the little that I did play of Beyond Divinity.

Yes, there wasn't much at the start of Beyond Divinity to give you a feel for the full game, like the few quests and NPCs around Aleroth at the beginning of Divine Divinity (which also starts off a little linear and heavy on the hack and slash). Once you reach the citadel (last couple levels of the first act) there are more quests and NPC interaction, and act 2 opens up (after you get past the first small area) with multiple locations surrounding a fair sized imp village, and different environments to explore.

I really must start playing Beyond Divinity again ! It's a shame I never played further than a few level-ups in act 1.
