Recently I have upgrade my Voodoo 3 3000 APG for a GeForce FX 5200 128 DDR. I have found that on the configuration dialog box, my Direct 3D setting on 1024*768 only score a 64 fps. Previously on my Voodoo 3, i score more. If i use glide setting on the voodoo 3, i score about 140 fps.
With the Geforce FX5200, my graphic is quite nice but its slow and quite jerky , its even worse when more monster is on the screen and the spell is all legging.
My system is Pentium 3 633 Mhz, 256 SDRam, 10 GB harddisk (*3). If you remember some of my previous posting about crashing on counsil of 7, then you can guess why i choose to upgrade the graphic card. I really need some help here. I try benchmarking the new card on 3Dmark03, and score about 1145. Its not a bad score, but on the testing stage, where 3dmark03 will load some game testing screen, some of the game only run about 6 to 10 fps. And i'm still wondering why i score 1145 on the overall. By the way I'm also running on DirectX 9.0a.
Thanking you in advance.

I have a Duron 1300, 512MB PC133, 32MB GeForce2 MX, Windows 98 system. The Direct3D mode on 1024x768 tests at about 105fps. Does Direct Draw or Software mode do any better than Direct3D? Did you check for updated drivers? Is there an option to disable vsync in the video driver settings? 3DMark does include very high polygon scenes, which will produce low frame rates on any system. Is there a help file or something which describes the expected performance for each of the tests? There is a feature to compare your results to other systems (might only be in the registered version), but I don't know how detailed it is. A forum or newsgroup ( Google Groups) for NVidia (or video card / gaming performance in general) might be a good place to check, if no one else has any suggestions. NVidia's FAQ; [*] How can I optimize my display drivers for faster gaming performance?[*] I get very poor performance with my games. How can I fix this?

I have already check nvidia forum and can't find any help. If i don't use antialiasing, my FPS goes about 65, i have even try software and direct draw, Its even slower...much much more slower. I'm now thinking of reinstalling my XP and only use Direct X 8.1. I think its because DirectX 9.0 is giving me the problem.
Thanks for your feedback anyway. I'm reinstalling my system now. Will keep you inform of my update.
Thanks everybody.

I have already clean formatted my PC, and reinstall DirectX 8.1. Its a full clean install system. I reinstall DD, and my frame rate still run at 64 to 65 fps. I'm really out of idea. Other 3d games work great. Like Warcraff 3 and other. Previously my voodoo 3, Warcraff 3 is a little bit jerky when there is a lots of character is in the screen. Now it work greats with my GeForce FX 5200. Really out of idea. Any suggestion ?

Did you check the 'PERFORMANCE TIPS' section of the Divinity ReadMe file?

Raze,
I have checked everything. Even on the forum of NVIDIA and MSI. Try installing new drivers and other which i can think of.
Now the game run just above ok. When there is a lots of ogre (i've replay the game) near the ogre main camp, everything starting to slow down.....very slow. Espicially where there is a lots of trees.
just all my other games works perfectly. Even Elder Scroll III : Morrowwind works greats. Guess I just have to stop playing the DD until I upgrade my CPU. I'm planing to buy a P4 3.0C. Just upgrade everything...motherboard, DDRram, HDD, DVD....and so on. But that will be 3 to 6 month down the road.
If in the mean time, if you got any idea on how to get my FPS up. Please do tell me. Btw, which direct X version did DD develope on ? is it 7 or 8.1 ? I really don't think it is Version 9.

Divinity was developed for DirectX 8. Some people have had problems with version 9, others have not.
If you don't find a solution before you build a new computer, Riftrunner could be out before you get a chance to finish Divinity.

Well what can i say....ust now i just tried playing back my old savegames where i left at the council of seven, it doesn't hang my PC anymore with my new card, but then again...it damm slow .
Well...I think i should follow your advise and wait for . I really hope its much more better or maybe something similar to . I have really enjoy DD until the day i get the problem in the counsil of seven. I have read about in the forum and the website. But I'm still confuse whether is it a sequal to DD or another new game build on DD engine. Really hope LAR will implement Opengl on the game as it will run more nicer and much more faster.
Thanks for your advise and your patience with me RAZE. Tell me more about if you have time. tell me its going to be better than DD.
Cheers

Check the Announcements forum; there are links to a couple of interviews with a bit more information than in the Riftrunner FAQ. Riftrunner is set 20 years after Divinity and there is some overlap with places and characters, but I think it is more of an independent game (set in the same universe) than a sequel.

I had the same slow performance problems when I installed on my older P-3 600 system that has 256Meg of ram, a GeForce 3 with 64M ram, sblive gamer, windows 98se. The only way I was able to imporve the fps was to reduce the screen resolution down to 480x600 or 640x800, not as nice looking or as large a landscape
From my own experimenting with on different equipment, the faster the cpu (and more ram too) the better the game performs, BUT there is a trade off. With the patch ver 1.34, the stinker crash's frequently
