Larian Studios Forums Divine Divinity (English) Technical Problems Version 1.34 patch still buggy

This is my 3rd time playing DD. First 2 times were under Windows ME, Now I am using Windows XP Pro with all service packs. I configured XP for gameing (no background stuff running)

I have experienced more instiblity this time with XP than I ever did under ME
I am using the IDENTICAL hardware (Dual booting the 2 OS's <hidden partitions>).

The only difference is that I was running the Ver 1.32 patch when I played using ME. I have not tried Ver 1.32 under XP because my saved games are Ver 1.34 & I get the impression that they are not backwardly compatable <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/disagree.gif" alt="" />

I realy enjoy this game & I wish that it was more stable! What gives??

hmm. myn isn't buggy. but i thought that if u played with a mix of .32 and .34 it would screw up.

This is a fresh start using ONLY ver 1.34 patch under XP exclusivly. I was comparing the 2 versions and OS's concerning stability issues. I did a fresh (saved my saves first <ver 1.34> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/devil.gif" alt="" />) <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> uninstalled the game, did a scandisk, etc., I just changed my colour depth from 32 bit (I always used this 32 bit setting befor, even under ME) to 16 bit to see if the instablity gets less. Both O.S's have the same driver versions for each device too. I'll check back latter after I played awhile. Was able to restore a crashing saved game ok as well. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/alien.gif" alt="" />

<img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/div.gif" alt="" />I notice another artifact that occures just before a CTD. I will start getting white streakings or flash's accross the screen, and sometimes the audio will emit a high pitch tone (4Khz or so), but not very often. I never had this occure when I played the game using windowsME, & the version 1.32 patch. Yea you had to be careful because of the quest's bug, but nowhere near the problems I am having now under XP-pro <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/question.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/alien.gif" alt="" />
