I'm currently looking to settle into a new RTS title, and Dragon Commander looks like an interesting candidate. I did some prowling around, but there are two questions I couldn't find a definitive answer for:

1) Will there be any beta test for Dragon Commander?

2) What kind of DRM will you be using, if any?

Any details you could provide would be appreciated.

Unfortunately, there is a reason you couldn't find definitive answers...

Lar mentioned a possible closed public beta test for D:OS (Possible Alpha/Beta Testing?), so presumably there could be something for DC, as well. With previous games Larian has just had public playtesting sessions in their studio, for those who could make it there.

Nothing has been mentioned about DRM for DC, AFAIR. At least a couple months ago that had yet to be determined for D:OS (not that they'd necessarily have to do the same with both games). FWIW, Larian has removed the DRM from their previous games (DD, BD and DKS, with contractual issues preventing the removal from the original release of D2:ED), and now have more control since they are self publishing their upcoming games.

What matters most to me is the community involvement in the latter-end of the development process, particularly as the specifics of the game are polished. I like to settle into a community, really get to know the modders and regular players and (if possible) the devs. That community relationship starts during the beta test.

Yes, I was able to find reference to this in my searches, but it's not a definitive answer. Removing DRM which is functionally obsolete and universally despised from older titles is not the same as going DRM-free on a newer title.
