Not publishers, but distributors.

Ah. Watching the latest video, some of the NPC's have 13 topics, and that's just at the start of the game.

Okay, yeah, I see why a keyword system is the only way to do that.

I did note that some of the keyword were ambiguous like "Return Staff", which asks "do you have it?". Maybe if you haven't found it yet, that option could mean "What will my reward be?"

Esmeralda has an "Evidence" keyword, but again, that's just her asking if you have found any. Maybe before then, that keyword could be for her telling you something about what she knows about her husband's murder.

The giga.de preview had some valid points despite all its flaws and wrong points, for example the keyword system.

If there is a keyword which isn't "clear" it will probably cause unintended troube. For example the keyword "fight": it could mean that you ask someone about a fight (which one?) or it could mean that you want to fight against the person you talk with. Or another example: he keyword "girl": who knows what that means if you have met various girls while playing the game.

The keyword system has its strengths but it can easily be fucked up if it's not done 100% clear.....

From what I understood one of the things they are planning to do with the KS money is replace most of the keywords with actual sentences so the result of your choice ought to be a lot clearer.

* as usual this is imho (unless stated otherwise); feel free to disagree, ignore or try to change my mind. Agreeing with me is ofc also allowed, but makes for much worse flamewarsarguments.

About dialogues, in the videos I noticed two things:

1) In single player dialogues work OK but in multiplayer, when the other player starts a conversation with a NPC, you need to wait the player’s response to see what they were talking about. Maybe I misunderstand but I think is better that every player knows the conversation even if they cannot choose the response.

2) Another thing I noticed is that a NPC starts talking when one character is approaching, but if you were distracted, you could miss the topic, it would be nice to have a log of all dialogues to check them at any time.

The previous Divinity games had dialog logs.

Logs are fine, but I mean specially what people say as we walk and that is not part of a formal dialogue with one character. A divided log will be the best in this case, I.E. the “All” button could show all what is happened, “Dialogue” can only show the characters dialogues, “Combat” may show only the dice rolls, and etc.

Also, I'm thinking of logs that is organized in a way not first come first serve basis of message logs. So the player won't easily get lost on the quantity of information. From summary to the details of the dialogue. Very similar to the keyword system.

For example,

  • Watcher Statues
-One person (name) says it can be found in north east : Insert Dialogue
-one person (name) says it was cursed : Insert Dialogue
