I'm afraid it's in vain, but is there a way to hide your helmet?

Thanks in advance!

Playing with a female hero I mostly now prefer to wear NO helmet at all, because her beautiful hair is then covered !

Also:
most leggings are not that great to look at (for ME!), so I'm always happy to find a nice looking piece of gear, even when it's stats are not that great, it look lovely = I love it to see my hero wearing it ! For example I like the Rivellon Guards Leggings a lot more that many other leggings I can find/buy .
In the past, playing rpg's I didn't care about this, but now I care about it and simply sell all stuff I do not like to see my hero is wearing. I try all I find to see how it suits my hero (or not) ... The same with weapons !

The shields I find most ugly, so from now on I only use 1 handed weapons (one, or two of the same type) or two-handed weapons (swords & bows I like most).

Then it's lovely to simply look at your hero when walking or running throught the gameworld .

I feel the same about the leggings. What can I say? I'm a leg-man. My heroine is now wearing the Blood Echolon gear.

It is possible to change the appearance of the armour using Blender. It is a bit of a pain in the bum, though. I've fiddled about with a few bits and pieces but I'm not sure I really want to revisit it...

Blender? That's a seperate program? At the moment, I'm using Joram's "solution". It's not that the game is THAT hard.

Yes, it is a program for 3D modelling and animation: Blender.

Indeed hug

Even on nightmare mode ... my female hero is now level 16 and still wearing the Wild Dwellers Leggings that are not the "best". (in terms of best protection or with the best boosts to... I've seen so far by traders etc),
but I'm happy to play with a hero I find lovely to look at ... for hours and hours ... playing DKS !

That's the reason I don't use a helmet or shield anymore.
In FoV part I make one exception for a "special helmet" linked to a quest. wink Just me !

Oh, yes, sorry: I should've pointed that out. It's all a bit of a pain to work on DKS stuff, it needs a tool created by the modding community (I think) to unpack the archives, another updated one to repack them, a tool called NifSkope to properly update the meshes, and to extract the images from the nif files if doing retexturing (not sure whose idea it was to store them this way!) and a custom tool to put them back, and I also had to work on Blender's export script to get it working properly. All in all, it was really painful and time-consuming to do, but at least I got my character some nicer shoes and stuff out of it.

Little bit late to this discussion but just saw it and was wondering about what Vometia said; can you not use Texmod to load the new textures rather than repack them or is it the actual model you're editing? I did some basic swaps with Texmod to reduce how silver the eyes were after the ritual and I can change colours of gear too.

However I'm not sure if it's possible to swap models with this, for example could I swap the appearance of two different types of armour? If so could I swap the appearance of a helmet with the appearance of my character's head? I did try some messing to swap armour but it wasn't successful even though I extracted the three textures for it. Not sure if this sort of question is allowed on this forum though...
