ok, i've searched the forums and this has come up, but if it was resolved it was done via email and i can't find the answers on the forums. if anyone has surmounted this problem i'd appreciate any help they could provide.

i've been working through the problems with the game (at the cost of performace ) but i'm losing patience fast with the corrupt saves. basically, as has been described previously by others, i am constantly running up against this problem during play. my quicksaves quickly become unusable and i have to delete the corrupted files and begin new ones, 'named' saves have the same problem. i'd say one out of every six or eight attempts to save results in corruption (fewer than the full 22 files saved).

i've read that this is a problem with the latest patch, but i am very hesitant to uninstall and use an older patch for fear of some game breaking bug.

i have a new system running XP home edition, pentium 4 2.53 ghz, 512 megs ram, radeon 'all-in-wonder' 9000, latest drivers, dx, etc.

help!

if it happens to you its very obvious, many times it will tell you as soon as you save that there is an error saving to the hard drive. with quicksaves it doesn't flash the error warning, which has gotten me in trouble in the past. also under your list of saves (ingame and in your files) you will see the suffix 'TMP' after a corrupt save. finally, when you click on the properties of one of these 'TMP' files you will notice there are fewer files then are supposed to be there.

if you haven't experienced any problems under the new patch and you've been playing for a while than its probably nothing you need ot worry about, i've had this problem since i started playing the game.

this seems like a really great game, but i need a fix for this problem if i'm to continue playing: its just to frustrating otherwise.

i suggest that you backup your game to a different place and uninstall,
do a clean sweep of the computer....scan, defrg, reboot...reinstall,
anti-v off, update patch 1,2,3, move your game back....be sure of any read/write permissions,
reconfig...no test, apply close...
sometimes you'll have to play around with the config tool
for best results.......
just remember to save often....
thats all i know.
