Ok, for the council of seven, and the george's murder quest, you need to find mordaneus (sp?).
First of all, quite a while before, I came to Aleroth and found that it was under attack by orcs. I killed Demonia. I left because I didn't need to do anything there for a while.
When I came back to find Mordaneus, I found that he was locked up. The problem is... I don't have the key! Either I just never got it, or dropped it by accident.

Is there anything else I can do? My lockpicking is level 4 and it doesn't work... should I aim to get 5? Will it open then?

Any help would be most appreciated.

I went around the city, and apparently, the key is not there. And yes, I definetely killed every single orc, and Demonia.

The key is in the Lanilor's house.

And even that wouldnt work <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cry.gif" alt="" />. Only the key gets the door open.
