Did anyone else experience this? When you talk to the Engineer and you reject his proposal to pay 1k of gold he will spawn a couple of monsters. Dispatch those monsters then talk to him again and this time pay the money. I think it's a waste to not engage those monsters considering this game doesn't respawn.
I thought he turned hostile if you refused him, even if you didn't have enough gold and said you would return when you did? I haven't tried that in the latest version, though, just the disk version.
