Have you installed the latest patch? I think it fixes that problem, IIRC.

No CD hacks can not handle the ceremony (there is a video on the CD), but usually you just get teleported outside the council hall. Nobody mentioned their health dropping to zero, that I recall.
Try it with the play CD in the drive, in any case.

There was a rare bug which caused a couple people's characters to die immediately after getting to the wastelands.

Reinstall the operating system without making any upgrades from the internet for security upgrade reasons. Those "security"issues are to secure Microsoft FROM you. I noticed after making THAT mistake that my CD stopped reading all of my own CDs on which I stroed my works and libraries. Getting rid of the new security patches restored my system perfectly.

Good luck.

Cheers.

??? I don't understand, what does the OS has to do with it?

Uninstall DD, mate, you'll be asked if you want to keep the saves. Choose "yes" and reinstall the game after. Patch and play without the NoCD patch. G'luck.

Agree with "Death"! Just deinstall the game and reload and add the patch. Be sure and save your saved games. You might also want to copy the Saved Games folder into another directory for a back-up. Do not know why you would want to reinstall the "OS". Last thing I would do, especially if the rest of the programs and the system are just fine.

Yeah, Johnny's right; better backup the saves anyway, in case if you blindly say "yes" to "erase savegames?" message. At least I do backup them .

BTW, without using the NO-CD patch, I had to reinstall the game 4 times when I played it the first time !
I alwasy forgot that I should never save when my minimap is on...
