I just downloaded the Beta and I am having trouble at the beginning. When I load the game, it loads the Larian Studios screen, then goes to the main menu.

On the main menu, the <continue>, <start campaign>, <custom campaign> and <load game> buttons are all greyed out. I understand that the continue and load game shouldn't work, but are we not supposed to be able to play a single player campaign?

The only options I can select are <multiplayer>, <options>, <credits> and <quit game>.

If I select credits, it goes to turning gears and then sticks at that point. I can escape back to the main menu.

I can select options and it goes to the various options pages.

If I select Multiplayer, I go to a game matching screen, but if I try to connect to a game I get "NAT punch through failed".

I believe I am above all of the minimum system requirements, but obviously something basic is wrong. I don't want to clog up the forums with unnecessary duplicate posts, but I haven't read anything like this in the few bug collection posts I have found.

You can go to Multiplayer, then create a game and change the other 3 players to AI and play against the computer. smile

Currently the beta only includes multiplayer.

I'm not sure what the problem is joining a game (other than the obvious), but as BlueStar427 said you can start a game (Create lobby), then add 1 to 3 AI, change the factions if you wish (which determines if they are enemy or allies to you and each other), and then either start the Multplayer Campaign or just play a Skirmish (one RTS battle), selectable above the map.

If you wish to get a feel for the game mechanics, you can set the enemy AI to 'None' difficulty, so they will not build or recruit, allowing you all the time you wish to do whatever you want before attacking (they will defend themselves at that point).

I was able to create a game with 3 AI players. It crashed after about 4 turns when it waited for one AI player to finish their turn, which never happened. I attempted to save the game and reload it, but that just caused the game to freeze.

It would be helpful if there was a "This is the current state of the Beta" sticky forum post where you could put things like the only way to play is multiplayer currently.

Thanks for the help, I'm really looking forward to playing more of the game.

The actual builds of the beta are published in the Dragon Commander beta steam group which is called "I want to be a Beta Dragon".... wink

Thanks for the info to look in the steam forums. Which forums should we be using these or the steam forums?

These forums are probably better.
