I was wondering, on google i saw in search results 39.99$ and then in steam I see 39.99€..I'm not saying i think that's too much (seems about right to me for such an extensive game) but I am wondering about the 1:1 conversion. Please tell me this is not the case, because I would hate to see larian do the same thing as a lot of int. gaming companties/sites just converting 1:1 which would ofcourse be a blatant rip-off for Euro customers.

Yep, Valve has been doing that for a while.
I think the developer/publisher can change pricing for separate regions, but the default is 1$ = 1€ = 1Ł.

See the age old 1€ ≠ 1$ thread: http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?t=770231

The real question is, why is it €39.99 when buying directly from Larian? Doesn't it make sense to sell with a slight discount since Larian can keep all the money vs. giving 30% to Steam/GOG?

Right now Larian/Steam is a whopping 30% more expensive than GOG.

If it's about paying EU VAT then the price should $52 in GOG for EU customers, but obviously that isn't the case here, I get $39.99 regardless of what country I pick in GOG.

Larian does have investors, it isn't funding these games 100% themselves.

How is that relevant to the pricing in different storefronts?
