Here are my serious gripes with Dragon Commander:
1) On the strategy map screen, the turns play out very rapidly, and there is no way to replay what the opponents have done. Therefore, the last player to end the turn has the advantage as all the turns play out when the final player is ready. This is bad. (Still occurrs in version 1.0.118.9727)
2) When preparing for battle on the strategy screen, both players much confirm they are ready. The problem is the next screens are rigidly timed, so the last player to confirm he/she is ready starts the timer. The last person can wait several mintues before confirming, and the next screen has a 30 second timer.... It should be obvious the kind of abuse that can happen here. (Still occurrs in version 1.0.118.9727)
3) Desyncing at the start of the RTS for no good reason, instantly ruining the game that may have gone on for hours. (Still occurrs in version 1.0.118.9727)
4) No option to save or load multiplayer games. (Still occurrs in version 1.0.118.9727)
5) No ability to impose or delay time limits during strategy portions in multiplayer. (Still occurrs in version 1.0.118.9727)
6) Pathfinding AI in RTS can be problematic, they will get stuck on terrain and just stop. (Still occurrs in version 1.0.118.9727)
7) Locking game slots causes crashes when loading RTS maps. (Still occurrs in version 1.0.118.9727 --workaround is avoid locking player slots in the game lobby)
8) WHERE WERE THE DRAGONS??!! They never appeared in the strategy or RTS potions. (Resolved, player error)
9) Some pacing issues, such as the fact it can take a very, very long time before you even have your first RTS battle. Then, those RTS battles can seem to drag out when even small armies are involved. (Still occurrs in version 1.0.118.9727)
I've found all these problems after only playing for a couple hours with a friend.... I look forward to massive bug fixes and tuning before release. This game does have potential -- A LOT OF POTENTIAL, but it is not ready. Can Larian pull a miracle in less than a month? Good luck friends!
PLEASE NOTE: All these issues were encountered with the 1.0.118.9727 patch which claims to alleviate some of the problems.
