Sorry if this has been asked before, but will this game have Steam Trading Cards?

From what I understand, the trading cards are to be designed by the developers themselves. Maybe a bit after release, but there are more important things to take care of right now :P

That also includes the backgrounds, emoticons etc.

These trading cards are pretty hyped ATM, so am sure if the game came out and it also had trading cards, lots more ppl would buy it

Can someone explain to me what you guys are talking about? I do use Steam but I have no idea what these trading cards are or what you do with them.

Spanks.

Go to Steam and select store. It should stare you in the face.

Alternatively, go to your account, then Badges.

Unless otherwise specified, just an opinion or simple curiosity.

Here here.

But I think from a business perspective Larian should do it. There are quite a large number of Steam users that are very much in to their achievements and such. So someone who might look at the game and say HEY that looks pretty cool. But if they see it and say HEY that looks pretty cool, AND it has cards. Might put a few of those types over the edge.

Plus the game has a card aspect in game, kind of a tie-in theme there claphands

Seeing as thousands of players actually spend Steam Wallet funds on trading cards in order to get high-level badges for all games, or their favourites, or just in order to get a high Steam level, it seems like a very good idea. Also, no matter if one likes Dragon Commander trading cards or not... they're trading cards. An extra bonus that's to be sold on the community market for extra wallet funds. Gives potentially new players that extra push indeed.

I'd be collecting them I say. wink

Count me in. I'm already collecting other trading cards on Steam (why, oh why?), so I would also collect DC cards for sure. smile

And some nice cards with artworks and DC steam profile backgrounds and stuff would be great indeed, no matter if you want to collect them or not. wink

can we get response from Larian as to whether they are looking into this?

I can't speak for Larian, but if I was a game designer in the last weeks before release trying to squash bugs, polish things and add last-minute features, trading cards would be pretty low on my priority list. It's probably not hard to do, but there's no rush at all to do it.

The game has card mechanics. They have board game with cards. I think this will be pretty easy for them to implement. Of course, they should just focus first on the game play and issues.

From the outside, Steam TC's don't look like something difficult to implement.

Yeah, from what I can tell, the game publisher just gives Steam the names and pics for the cards, and Steam takes care of the rest

It seems a matter of maybe an hour at max, seeing as especially during the summer sale, a lot of these cards, backgrounds, emoticons and badges have been made rapidly.
