With just over 2 weeks until release (yay!), I was wondering if there are still plans to allow the regular (non-press) beta goers a chance to check out some of the single player campaign before release?

Even without I've been having a lot of fun testing with each of the new patches, but I'm sure I'm not alone in hoping to meet some of the personalities in the campaign some time soon.

I feel partially neutral about this, while giving us a bit of the story for us to test is great, however that would be like giving us the game free for a limited time, then we'll see what it is and decide if we really want it from then or not.. Larian could test it themselves too of course, however a demo while we anticipate the launch would also be nice. :P

While I was a beta tester for Lego Universe however the same thing happened, however the whole game was opened for beta testing, which was quiet small, and didn't grow that much for a year when it finally did end.. - Personally I don't know why but I feel like this is linked when giving a campaign beta test for some reason.. lol smirk

I would like to see maybe the 1st part of the campaign in the beta like the Press Release version, but that's it. Having the whole campaign, and I don't think that's what the TC is asking for, is a bad idea. If we can get the 1st bit of the campaign I would hope that we could get the bugs, if any, out of the Raven part of the game.

While I think it would be a great idea to get the first part out there so bugs can be ironed out I don't think I would play it. I don't feel bad playing the RTS skirmish map (or multiplayer campaign) but I don't want to spoil any of the single player for myself. Especially because I would just have to replay it when the game is released anyway.

I would, as the game is supposed to have a true replayability. You should not be confront too the same issues twice (in the game) ... And if we do ...

Furthermore, a lot of the beta tester already purchased the game ...

I kind of agree in a way with Ravenhoff, I don't want spoilers myself, until the game actually launches, maybe that was that feeling that I couldn't quiet explain in my post.. lol smirk
Even with multiple choices and endless story lines and such, in a way it's still a spoiler...

Maybe they could implement a simple non-spoilerific single player mode or something for the purposes of beta testing, like presenting some sample conversations with crew members (like Edmund in the Let's Play video) and some randomised interactive politics in between the usual strategy map gameplay, but without actually giving away the main plot if possible. It would be nice to test out using generals to auto-resolve on the strategy map too, and research on board the Raven.

ooh, me likey the idea... :3
I think the main issue for beta testers anyways would be to test out the mechanics and see if the audio plays right, I guess in a way testing the engine, not the story. If it works properly then I doubt there would be an issue for anything anywhere in the campaign.

I can´t see why not to give the beta testers a part of the campaign.

If people don´t want spoilers, just wait till the full game to play it. Meanwhile other players (like myself) that want to enjoy as soon as possible the main features of the campaign and get ready for the "real" and full version of the campaign, can play it and have some fun. And while doing that, help to correct possible mistakes.

I'm not sure that there's too much that we can test with the single-player version that we can't with multiplayer. Typos and such I suppose, and seeing that if you pick option A the dialogue for option A properly plays.

well there could be bugs involving the raven (people not showing up where their supposed to), cutscences firing, political events issues (like maybe you vote yes and for some reason the outcome you see is the vote no one).

I think the differences between MP campaign and Single player one are enough to warrant there will be a few bugs unique to it.

That said I dont care about spoilers cause i know the majority of the first bit of the single player campagin already. its been in the majority of larians media coverage already.

I know the map, I know the wizard is the first guy you meet after that the engineer to give ya the jetpack. I know the majority of the first single player campaign map is mostly elven territory with only undead in the top territory. You only encounter the dwarven provinces in the second part of the campaign after you take the initial campaign area. Your the son of the old emperor and apparently a dragon knight. Your brothers are fighting over the throne in a empire wide civil war and their not dragon knights.

If you choose the undead princess you can give her a dwarven province in exchange for a undead army. She needs it to proceed and research a spell of resurrection for her sexy self.

Well, there's actually a bug encountered by TotalBiscuit during his review when voting in the throne room. IMO, it might be connected with the new interface (IE the big thumbs up/down)
