Since yesterday's patch various settings in the MP beta can be adjusted via sliders.
I figured that we could collect some results from playing around with various settings in this thread.
What I did:
The first thing I tried was adjusting the build cost to 2.5x the default, i.e. a trooper costs now 7 instead of 3, a recruitment center 50 instead of 20, etc.
To counter it a bit, I slightly increased starting recruits (40).
My observations:
The main results are a slower pace in battle, since you can produce less units, esp initially and a much increased importance of the units you bring with you into the battle.
Rushing the enemy base is now a definite option if you have a couple of strong units vs fewer weak units.
Since the enemy, by the time your troops reach his base, won't have produced as many units as with default settings, this generally results in much lower losses.
The biggest downside is that the difficulty is a bit too low now (medium), since AI fields relatively few units on the strategy map.
Conclusions:
I think 2.5x might be a little bit too high, but probably 2x will strike a slightly better balance between AI/difficulty and my search for slower pace and higher importance for strategy-map units.
