I just finished the game and seriously, where is my wife?

Don't get me wrong, I'm well pleased with the ending at large. Its exactly what I expected coming from the rest of the game. A small chat with all the main characters, some of them even commenting on the relationship we've had (and I'm cautiously presuming my actions matter a little) pleases me. The imp made me laugh. I'm going to replay, just so I can ally with other faction and pick another dragon and princess. I wonder what will happen if I'll let you-know-who have his way in exchange for power.

But again, where's my wife? If there's ANY character on the entire ship that I expected to be there to congratulate me, it would be my lizard princess. What the hell happened?

Again, I'm easy to please, but not even a pat on the shoulder? I married the coldest one in the bunch for godsakes! I didn't have high hopes! A little wink and a small sentence in the line of "Well done my love." would have done it for me.
This isn't even open ended. Open ended would have been if the cinematic would have shown my wife's silhouette next to me for 3 seconds as it faded out. Even that would have just been fantastic.

But this? I've been fighting for women's rights my entire playthrough, guided the princess, respected her for all those little details Larian Studios gave her like a change of clothes. I realized arranged marriages aren't all they're cracked up to be, but this? She just gets swept under the rug, like not even an aftertought?

Seriously people, my head hurts. Help me out here. Did she fall off the ship? Did the buss with the voice actresses explode on the last day of recording? What happened? Its like I just spend three days in a five star hotel, only for the bellboy to vanish so I have to fetch my own car on the way out. Now I'm suffering from this painful disbelief.

Is this the DLC? Or a bug? Yes, must be.

This is a bug. Larian, you accidentally locked us out of the one, single, twenty word sentence that would have made everything complete. There's little other reason for this forgotten pitfall.

That's not a bug. Maxos says that your wife has left the ship to find a spot for your castle and capital.

It's certainly disappointing, and it seems like Larian didn't have the budget for a goodbye with your wife, but not a bug.

Wonderful. I don't think Larian understands just how ironic this is. I'm certainly heart broken over my missing wife and the Architect didn't even have to kill this one. If the last empire is any indication, that means that his one won't last five seconds. You can put a sock in it Max Sauce, the entire outro is invalid.

*Sigh* If anything can be learned from the bastard's father and the fall of the previous empire, than it is how important the union between the empire's king and queen is. Showing this queen living a long and happy life alongside the bastard - and I do mean even just the barest shadow of it - would not only have resolved the storyline of an interesting cast member, but it would have concluded the everything... the ENTIRE storyarc, the game, THE MOST IMPORTANT CHAPTER IN WHAT I KNOW OF RIVELON'S HISTORY!

......... Fondness of story-telling inspired:

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARGGGH!

Larian, you painted the Mona Lisa, but left out that 2% of the painting, those two spots aside from the mouth, that should have given her the mysterious smile! You bastards!

Seriously, I'm not sure wether I should praise you for making me care about the game as much as I do, or cursing you for applying the one unseemly flaw in what would otherwise be one of the most memorable games I've played in a long time. The story might be a bit weak, but dear god do you have the richness of setting pat down.

I'll go with the former however, as otherwise I'm very proud of what you accomplished. Well done. Now please make Dragon Commander 2 more inclusive as I tell everyone about this game. You know, the sequel, where the empire topples for lack of a queen again?

Easy fella, game is barley 3 days old, and given its massive success (reached steam top 3 sellers, not sure how did on over platforms of release, but that in and of itself is a feat and indication), and modern day love of DLC from many a developer, there always a chance for a Story expansion to pick up where the game left off. What would happen? i dunno thats up to larian but its a possibility. Please do note though, i suspect this is unlikely, although they are very focuses on making thier game polished i suspect Larian will be putting most of their focus onto Original Sin now, and any other un-announced Divinity they could possibly be working on.

Still, one can hope.

That's not massive success by any means.

Hitting the third spot for half a day before falling off the top ten...isn't something the dev's will proudly announce to anyone.

As with all larian games so far the game was shot out of the proverbial cannon all it's features half baked and If I were to guess more cut content then content.

Maybe in two years they'll release the developers cut. But don't hold your breath for any meaningful dlc.

Maybe not a massive success but at least I am incredibly impressed.

You can see the loose threads here and there, but the rest of the tapestry has been woven with such love that I can easily forgive Larian. I certainly hope that this is the groundwork for more to come. I'm deadset on being a return customer, if Larian can keep up building on a ground work like this.

Dragon commander was highly memorable to me. So memorable that I can't help put remember that one flaw.

We don't know how well pre-order sales went, and it climbed up to #2 in the hours before release, and it didn't just hit number 3, it hit number 1 for a while, then dropped down to number 2 and stayed there at least overnight. Top Sellers is based on revenue.

Maybe not a massive success, but Swen seems optimistic.

im not saying its drawing in the revenue of a Triple A title by any means what i am saying is that, despite only being a small Company larian Have Toped the charts of the most popular digital games distributor on the web, if only briefly, for any small independent company, at least by my standards, that's a massive success.

Another thing to remember is that the Steam charts only counts copies purchased from Steam itself. It doesn't count the ~16-20K copies gotten via D:OS kickstarter, nor any copy of the game purchased via other stores - such as GOG, Gamersgate, etc or directly from Larian themselves.

I have to say I am also sad that the ending did not also include a last conversation with your queen. I really wish that Larian had the time and money to add this in when making the game - and considering they had to completely scratch/ditch 2 main characters because of time & money constraints, I'm sure that's likely the reason the queen wasn't included at the end.
