You can now download update 1.0.40 from the Vault. If you have the Steam version, you will receive it automatically.

GOG will put it online today.

We are testing out an autopatching system for the GOG and Vault versions so you don't have to worry about these anymore.

I can't find the other 1.40 Bugs thread, so this looks like as good a place as any.

- In the map "Dead Waters" there is another shipyard buried inside a mountain. I spotted this one only because it was on the minimap.

- I decided to use the Armours "Public Transportation", and I loaded some Troopers into Armours, the in a Transport and sent them across the water to land on the other side. I clicked the "unload" button, and there was a sound effect, but nothing seemed to happen. My troops were nowhere to be found. Soon thereafter, I found them: Instead of unloading next to the Armours, they were unloaded way back at my starting base, on the other side of the water. That wasn't helpful. It might have happened because one of my Hunters was in motion, moving in front of the Armours at the time I hit the button and might have interfered with the deployment.

So ... what was patched exactly? Should I restart my game?

I think it might have been support for the Jetpack and issues with the Golden Dragon skin, because the Jetpack codes have gone out.

- ANOTHER bug with the "Dead Waters" map. This time I started on the opposite side, but when I tried to send Transports over, the Transports wouldn't unload on the opposite shore - in both landing areas. It worked when I was on the other side, and it worked for the enemy last time, so I don't know why here it isn't.

My Ironclads also seemed to be confused and didn't always shoot at the enemy shipyard even though it should have been in range. Instead they would just to up to the shoreline instead.

Anyone with the Larianvault 1.0.40 update can put it online somewhere and post the link here for all I care. It also works on the GOG version.

This will all be fixed once the auto updater is in. (Yes you can skip the auto updater and no, you don't have to be online for the game to work. Auto updater is optional.)

Just wanted to say thanks for the work on setting up this auto-updater. Really it should be down to GoG to actually upload the patches you send them and going the extra mile to make sure we don't suffer for their mistakes is much appreciated.

Now that I've had more of a chance to play, I've definitely noticed some improvements in the strategy Map AI. It uses Transports a lot more now. Still, though, I have seen it do some peculiar things.

In a Custom Campaign in Rivellon Heartlands, I've seen Karthan load transports, send them off the island, and then in the next turn, take them right back and unload them from where they started. I don't think I had changed the composition of my forces on Orcha. On the bright side, when he did choose to invade, he did coordinate and invaded with several transports at once.

The AI moves Transports about a lot more now, they still need to learn to escort them with Ironclads so they don't get shot down - in large part because they don't really build Ironclads, Juggernauts or air units on the strategy map.

The main problem I have with the strategy AI currently is that it doesn't seem to take advantage of free uncontested territories and would rather spam attack with transports and zeppelins.

I was playing on Dragons lair with my start position in the bottom left corner. The AI on the bottom right seemed to play reasonably smart but the top left and right AI's just kept attacking each other with transports. At the same time both AI's were NOT capturing uncontrolled territories around their capital. This crippled their research and gold output so by the time I finished off the bottom right guy the top 2 were complete push overs. It's great that they can use transports and the water but they HAVE to be smart enough to grab free money.

How can you imply GOG has an issue? I'm sure there is even a button there for the patch uploader to release the patch after it's made by GOG when the uploader sees fit.
IMHO if you got to make a patch each week after release and can't wait until every platform has reviewed/made the patch to release it at the same time for everyone, then something is wrong with the STUDIO.

So if GOG gets a patch and just doesn't release it for a week, then nobody should have the patch? What if they take a month? What if Gamersgate or Amazon decide not to release patches at all, does that mean Larian can never update the game again?
GOG not releasing patches for updates that they have or being slow to release the patches they do release is GOG's issue. Their approach has advantages and disadvantages, but it is their approach, and can not and should not limit every other distributor or Larian.

There were publishers that never released the 1.49 patch for Beyond Divinity that removed the copy protection and allowed the disk version to be played in Vista and Win 7. Should Larian never have released that patch?
