Chapter 3. I pretty much spammed Juggernauts/Iron clads and walked into the open territory with just 1 or 2 ground units. On Hard.

I think I see your problem.

Try spending some of that 1000 gold on ground units and sending those in with your other troops. You can't actually capture any territory at all without ground units. Invade a hundred, a thousand times with only air and sea, but all you'll do is kill the units there, you'll never take ownership. Boots on the ground is required.

I recently beat Chapter 3 on Hard. Did it in under 15 turns, too. I had a huge ground force, but after a couple of invasions that didn't go very well - even though the Undead liked me a lot. I instead held off for two turns to buy and send up reinforcements and that let me take the territory and win.

No no, you get me wrong, Stabbey. This was totally intended.

The small island in the middle of the 2 landmasses had a War Factory and my mouse was being wonky. So instead of attacking Imp Fighters on open sea I mistakenly let them attack that small island. I won via autoresolve. Next turn I thought "hey lets make a invasion force for the north islands from my newly aquirred island" and then noticed it was still red. I totally forget that you could only capture with ground forces.

Was kinda funny though. I just used my fleet to kill all ground forces and then move to the next. I targeted the war factory production zones first or as fast as possible. It made "hard" look like "casual".

Hard difficulity was the first thing I played. I did it nice and steady and conquered everything, so the computer had already divided his forces and lost most of them in fringe skirmishes by the time I marched on the capital. Cost me 50 turns, but it was enjoyable.

I just finished the game last night and Act III was kind of lame. Only one battle I did in RTS, the rest were auto resolve.

I basically just used some cards to buy 13 Juggernauts and used them to rule the seas got some Imp flyers for backup. Once I ruled the seas it was just just a matter of picking off the territories one at a time.

That's interesting, because for me Act 3 was pretty intense.
I was heavily outnumbered and never managed to gain supperiority on the seas. I had to use the dragon almost every round, as well.

I think the reason is that I didn't bring much gold from chapter 2 (only about 100 or so), which was quickly used up. Additionally I had been cursed repeatedly by the 7 for going against the undead, so I had relatively high losses, too.

Yeah the faq's I've read indicated that you need to milk Act II for a while to have a surplus of gold and cards going into Act III.

I keep hearing about bad Luck and the Undead. How does that work exactly? I know that making the Undead like you gives you luck, but I never figured out how that applies to anything in the game.

I started Act 3 on Hard with 173 gold, which was enough. I got enough cards, gold, and research through playing normally to beat the last act. I enjoyed the challenge of trying to beat the RTS parts in Act 3. Auto-resolving my way through Act 3 would have felt too cheap.

The way I noticed it is that the percentages in autoresolve battles get skewed.
Admittedly I'm not completely sure how to interpret them, as they sometimes don't add up to 100 anymore, but my chances to win seemed much lower to what I would expect from the units in the battle, and losses would be higher.
