Larian Studios Forums Dragon Commander Dragon Commander - General Questions on Game Footage

Hello all,

I'm pretty new to Dragon Commander...well, okay, we all sort of are because the game came out a little over a month ago, but ANYWAY! It got my creative juices flowing in terms of a machinima I want to create. This idea of mine is a sort of twist on the traditional "Let's Play" videos you see on YouTube; it's a LP by a...character I have come up with. If anyone wants an explanation, feel free to ask, but before I do anything to get started, I have questions regarding the usage of footage captured in-game.

1. This might sound like a silly question, but it has to be asked: can I record game footage with software like Fraps without Larian Studios dispatching the Copyright Gestapo to kick my dog? (I don't have a dog, but still...)

2. What can I do with said footage that won't also get said Gestapo on my scaly tail?

3. If this project gets off the ground, I'll use YouTube to put it up, and YouTube lets players monetize videos now. Would I be able to monetize, or will that once again get my non-existent dog kicked?

Any input on this would be appreciated. Thanks!

2. Whatever you want (anything legal, anyway... no splicing different dialog together to make bomb threats, etc).

Before release the beta for Dragon Commander explicitly had no NDA, and there are already lots of pre-release / release videos around (though most were focused around the release, so there are not a lot in the latest version).

3. I believe Youtube wants a release form for use of game video if the channel is monetized. AFAIK Larian has not posted a general release form, so try emailing support@larian.com.
