I'm not sure if "stutter" is the word I'm looking for though.
The character movement animation are definitely at 60 fps and really smooth. But when I pan the camera, even though fraps indicates 60 fps constantly, I'm pretty sure it's not.
It feels more like 30 or 40fps.
I want to play the game so badly, but the non-smooth/choppy feeling kills the experience frown

The only relevant thread I found was http://steamcommunity.com/app/219780/discussions/0/882964118046975411/.

Is this a problem created by the previous 30fps cap maybe?

I'm running latest steam version, win7, nvidia gtx570, i5 2400.

The 30fps cap in DKS was added to help with the stuttering issues some people had in the original release of D2:ED. It did in many cases, but not all, and it put that restriction on people who were not experiencing the stutter, so an option to change/remove the cap was added in a patch.

I'm not sure if there are any suggestion that were not in the links I posted in the Steam discussion above, but there are other relevant topics (one below).

stuttering due to camera linked to animation (there is no such link)

I really wanted to play the director's cut but there doesn't seem to be a solution around this, it's inherent with the game's code or the engine.
Probably the majority of the players wouldn't mind this problem and find it minor or even unnoticeable. For me, sadly, it's game ruining.

Again, thanks for quick reply Raze. It was worth a shot.

Can you play at 30fps? If there is no change in frame rate, does it still feel choppy?

I tried numerous combinations and settings (fps limiting, nvidia panel tweaks, game settings), including 30fps. And yes, it feels choppy regardless. Especially when you pan the camera.
I'd like to emphasize it's not FPS drops (counter is always 59-60), it's just that the camera movement just doesn't feel smooth at all.
Too many years in gaming are taking their toll; Maybe I'm becoming too demanding and picky.

Anyway, let's move on. Thanks for trying to help.

So, the stuttering will never be fixed?
