Is this game strictly a multiplayer/coop game, or can it be played solo as well?

It can be played solo as well. You can then decide whether you a) ask the second character to wait for you somewhere (which however will be very tough during the fights), b) roleplay the second character yourself (yes, your second self can even disagree with your first self^^) or c) let the computer roleplay the second character.

Its for Singleplayer. Coop is only for use of friends. They expect that 90% of all Players will it play solo. If you open a game a friend can join and take over your second main character( +second companion/henchman). If he leaves you take again control of your characters. Since he can pretty much fuck up your game, larian dont want stranger in their games, that just randomly attack everything.

The option of co-op actually enhances the single player game, since there will be more and deeper dialog than usual for party members. You can choose to role play both main characters if you wish, or set one to answer randomly, based on a certain personality profile or to always agree with the other character.

That's good news... Unfortunately, I am unable to find the PayPal donation button. It claims it's on the right side of the Kickstarter page ( http://www.divinityoriginalsin.com/kickstart.php) but damned if I can find an actual PayPal link or button anywhere on that page...

The Paypal pledges were only available for a couple weeks after the kickstarter ended (the text just wasn't changed when the buttons/links were removed). I'm not sure when pre-orders will be available, or if there will be any kind of early access aside from kickstarter.

That is because the Kickstarter campaign ended months ago. You'll just have to wait for the game to be released.

I had thought that even after the Kickstarter, the PayPal would still be available. I know of a few others doing it this way... Bummer for me though...

It was open for a while after the Kickstarter ended, but it ended MONTHS ago. They weren't going to keep it open indefinitely.

After the alpha is released check out the Larian Vault. It is at least theoretically possible that some kind of 'slacker backer' type options could be added. Larian said some time ago they would consider adding the ability to upgrade tiers or add add-ons, so if they decide to do so, then adding some kickstarter like packages to the Vault may not be a lot of extra work.

I like the b. option, it will enhance schizophrenia hahahaha
