I have no idea what I did to cause this but I loaded my save today and went out to explore and when I entered combat only my guy went into combat, the girl stayed out of combat and I was able to use her skills to kill the enemies without entering turn based combat.
I finished that combat and continued to explore and it happened again when I entered combat a second time, my female character might just be glitched all together because I have also found she in unable to talk to npc's and my male character cannot interact with her even though they have ! above their heads.
