During the chalice quest I killed all the slayers, and Montagu drops a key. For the life of me I cannot figure out where it could possibly go. I thought for sure it would work on the goblin jail/room, but it didn't...

Does anyone know where this key goes???

I am thinking it was going to open that door but was never programmed thru completely as often happens nearing the end half of a game of this scope

I have x360 version if that matters

It opens the door to the room with the teleporter which leads to the prison cell. Montagu starts off beside the door, on the level below the door that leads to the chalice chest. If he is alive you can bribe him, challenge him to a duel or mindread him and use that information to get the door open, but if he is dead you need the key.

It certainly looks like there was going to be more stuff with the goblin prisoners, though. In the Developer's Cut version on PC you can use a cheat window to open the door and talk to one of the goblins inside, named Vixxit. He just says "The door is open. Let us escape, goblins! To totems and Svadilfari!". And then they all just continue to stand around.

Okay thanks, that explains it since I dueled him.

Really bothers me when I have a key in my inventory I havent used then I dont play for a couple days and forget what it was to haha... I have one now and no clue what it goes to so I did not want another one...

Yeah kind of bugs me when there is a locked door I can't get into either I feel like it should just say "you can never open this door" or be non-interactable or something

Thanks for the response! Amazingly could not find any info on this on the net at all...

would be nice if there was a key id# or something that you could see in-game or short description of where you got it I guess that might make things too easy in a way

I ended up with a few extra keys, usually from Lockpicking a chest/door before finding the key.

Lancet's Dragon Knight Saga FAQ/Guide is pretty good about listing keys, and other items, but doesn't mention the one Montagu drops when killed.

Even without the Developer's Cut version you can sneak a peek at the goblin prisoners, though you can't interact with them apparently.

On the Xbox 360 version, I jumped down the mountain from Saul's prison area, heading North-West until I landed on the wall-like rock ridge surrounding the slayer camp close to the water. I then ran along down the ridge, through a few trees, and ended up at a building with a gaping hole and a few windows where I could look in and observe the goblin prisoners. (I'm looking at them now. Looks like four I can see tilting the camera.) Upon seeing them, I figured there may have been a way to get in there, but couldn't find anything regarding them (other than this thread,) when I searched.

Good to know they aren't implemented in some hidden way, I'll stop searching for a way to get in there. The hole in the building almost looks large enough to jump through from where I'm standing, but an invisible wall blocks entry.

EDIT: Actually, you can just walk around the edge of the building to the left when facing the locked door to reach the hole in the building and see the goblins in there. Probably a lot easier than what I initially did. Oh well...
