First, going into any houses on the left portion on the screen is nearly impossible, because the camera will only turn clockwise. Is this a bug, or a mistake in design?
Second, movement out of combat is really pretty clunky. It's irritating to try and get from one end of town to the other, even with the ability to split the party. Are there any plans to change this in the future? I understand that movement speed is important, but I feel like that's a little more prominent in combat, and just inconvenience out of combat. Maybe a 'run' option or something?
Third, all NPCs appear as bald men/women, and don't really represent their sprites ingame. I assume this is a bug.
Other than that though, I'm liking the game so far. The character interaction is awesome, the options are fun, and I've liked the first few quests.

You can hit the Home button to reset the camera angle to default. You should be able to hold the middle button down to rotate the camera clockwise or counterclockwise through a limited range (about 60°)

If you click farther away from the characters they should run. An 'always run' toggle would be nice, though (not to mention a boost to the walk and run speed).

The NPCs should not all be bald.

Did you try changing the resolution or display mode, texture quality, etc, in the graphics options?

Maybe check for updated video drivers.

You can email supportdos@larian.com, with a description of the problem and the report.zip file generated by the D:OS support tool.

The bald person thing didn't come back when I tried the game today. Guess my computer just needed a restart after the install or something.

The camera is still really annoying. I know I can change the angle, but they really need to increase the angle of manipulation. It's close to impossible to get into doors on the left side of the screen, even when you manipulate the camera.

A lot of the commoners in the harbour were bald here also, although most legionnaires were not. Playing with maximum graphics settings. I'll record more information and send a proper report if this happens again.

The camera angle rotation range is far, far too small. Better than none, but feels broken.

Not sure if characters were running when piloting via holding down mouse button or not, but felt a little too slow outside of combat. Will check this out properly when I next test.

The world was designed to be looked at from a limited perspective in order to save work by not having to create full 3D models for every single thing in the game. The possible angle of rotation has been increased in the past if I'm not mistaken, so possibly it can not be increased much more without exposing the lack of say walls in the back of buildings. smile

That makes sense smile presumably it's a configuration setting, so hopefully mod developers who want to put in the time or build a completely different game* can free it wink

The question, then, becomes how can the user experience be improved to help the limited rotation feel better? It would be interesting to understand how the current 60 degree value was arrived at - it might be possible to tweak it up some without exposing artefacts. I suspect that part of the issue is that 60 degrees or so doesn't feel 'natural'.

* There were some rather wild NWN mods that managed to change the apparent mechanics wink

EDIT: Middle Mouse button toggles the camera rotation. Whew - the alpha is now playable for me... Still puzzled as to why anyone would want the auto-rotate by default, but perhaps I'm in the minority.

[original]
The camera control in the alpha currently is a deal-breaker for me - I'd really appreciate an option to toggle the auto-rotating camera to a fixed rotation camera, with a keyboardshortcut to enable camera rotation.

Moving around, the view just rotates constantly, and makes me feel a bit ill. Please give us this option, Larian dudes!

I can confirm that most of the NPCs in Cyseal harbour are bald. I believe this is due to missing art assets, as some do appear to have hair. I haven't talked to them properly yet to see what their portrait shows, and as such I am unaware if this is in fact the fashion of the town :P

By default you should need to hold down the middle mouse button to rotate the camera.

I seem to be unable to move the camera downwards when I put my mouse to the bottom edge of the screen.

I can move the camera to all the other directions without any problems but to get my camera to go downwards i have to either use the keyboard button for moving the camera or work with the lower corners and left/right side of the screen to get the camera where i want it.

I like using mouse for camera movement so this is a bit of an annoyance to me.

Is anyone else having this problem and has it already been reported or in the process of getting "fixed"?

That's a feature, not a bug. It is to prevent accidental movement of the camera when clicking on the skill bar during combat, etc. There have been suggestions to allow screen movement after a short delay, or something, which would still prevent most accidental movement.

The short delay sounds like it might be useful, or simply for those confident in their ability to control the camera allow them to disable the locked scrolling at the bottom at their own convenience, if possible. Either way is fine, or even if it stays as is as far as I'm concerned at the moment.

I think I'd prefer the option to disable the bottom camera lock altogether. The delay would be fine too but I'd prefer the full camera freedom more.

With mouse being able to provide full camera control and selecting interactions in and out of combat and the keyboard being able to provide the player with quick buttons for skills and other things, in worst case scenario I can see myself forgetting what the different skill images meant and as the result move my camera a bit when trying to see the skill description when scrolling the mouse over the skill image in the skill bar.

With this game using turn-based combat, thus preventing major combat mistakes as the result of accidental camera scrolling, I'd gladly put up with a few camera scrolling accidents to make my gameplay experience more..."fluent", if that's a good way of putting it.

Anyways, thank you for the answer to the matter.
