After playing the with another player several fight (including compagnions) the first thought was: this feels like jagged alliance without gunfire ... ok there is missing some more but there was instantly the feeling of "how to control the combat". Thinks like "place your Melee there", "summon a wall there" use the oil barrel ... The most fun comes from the combination of spell-effects and the environment. Overall a pretty good impression.
But currently there are some downsides, who i want to point with this thread.
I'am not a running calculator, most of my points are determined by play the game and look if things "feel right" instead of looking at the stats and start calculating.
The Mage got weeken down with last patch. Currently the mage feels better balanced. Especially at the start phase, the mage is unable to spam dammage speels. Additionaly the most spells has AreaDammage, so the player has to take care of not hitting own people. What leads to a DammageCannon unable to shot, this leads to thrilling situations...
On the other hand, it shows some problems. During some combats my Coop-Mage starts to closing in for melee-fights, and the mage does a surprisingly good job with it. The Warrior doesn't deal way more damage than a Mage with a bough... Warriors and Rangers can increase this by using skills but they have long cooldowns. So mostly both are forced to use the "simple attack".
From the perspective of the Ranger/Warrior I'm missing some abilities to increase the damage or take control of the combat. The mage can do both: cast damage or doing "crowd control".
A strong Warrior should have various ways to take control of its enemies. A warrior is able to lift strong stones and boxes, why he couldn't throw an enemy or at least use his shield to push them several meters. Other specific Spells (maybee unlock through way of ranger/warrior) like "Headshot"/"Headcrush", "Unarm" or "break legs" would add more dynamic to the fight.
Additionally the warrior need abilities to get fast close to an enemy. Something like "intercept" or "running" is needed. (PhoenixDive without a mage tree)
PS: to make a Warrior feel good, a simple thing is needed (warriors like it simple :D) If a Warrior get the hands on a cloth armed Mage, this should be a one hit kill, without using any skills...
