So, I never actually got to play with the imperial edition add-ons, despite downloading and installing them multiple times. Of course I chose GoG as my distribution platform, so I had to download my IE stuff from Larian Vault, but I was never able to play with any of the stuff that I should have (i.e. gold dragon or whatever). But despite that, I had a really fun time playing dragon commander.

When I first started off, I was really surprised at the new battle mechanics that were implemented. Having played the beta, you could just about beat anything just by spamming grenadiers indefinitely. So when I started up the gold copy of DC I was immediately overwhelmed by the first few battles that I directly controlled. When it came to the political game... I always had 0% respect from the dwarves no matter what, and for the most part always had 100% from the Lizards/Reptiles/whatevertheyare. That's just due to my personal beliefs and such, and yes, I did let Mr. Dwarf become the elected leader, despite how much I despised him. Though at the time, I didn't know it was a scripted event, I thought it was in retaliation to my 0% dwarf repuation status x3. I haven't played in a while, but I plan on making another run through sooner or later. But I just had a really good time with it.

I also thought the dragon from the artworks was more sexy than any of the characters in the game x3 =P

The Imperial Edition download from the Vault was just a temporary measure while GOG and Larian fixed the problem with people getting the regular version. From the GOG DC release topic:

Quote
Anyone who backed the Original Sin Kickstarter and claimed his or her copy of Divinity: Dragon Commander on GOG and *didn't* get the Imperial Edition code issued, please contact [GOG] Support and we will give you a free code for the DLC. In the subject of your ticket, please put, "Imperial Edition Upgrade for Kickstarter Backer".

Do you have the 'Planet Earth' map at the bottom of the map list for a multiplayer or custom single player campaign? If so the Imperial Edition is installed. With a patched game there is checkbox in the gameplay options to 'Enable Golden Dragon Skin', which you can check/toggle to see if that will get it to show up during RTS. There is also a golden jetpack option, if you got the retail version of the Divinity Anthology or signed up for a promo Larian had a couple years ago.
The rest of the Imperial Edition content (soundtrack, etc) is available from the install folder.

Wait, this game was patched? I have it from GOG and I know of no checkbox for the goldskin. And my Planet Earth Map is completely broken - which is a shame because I was so excited to start playing it.

I knew I should have gotten this on Steam....

You can download the patch from GOG, which includes an auto-updater, so the next patch you should get right away (no ETA on that; presumably after Original Sin is released).

I can't seem to find where to download it from GOG, but will keep looking.

Under My Games, Collection, select Dragon Commander: under the game installer on the left side there will be a 'Universal update'.
