Looted items are still vanishing from my inventory (and the world) post 1.0.95 patch. While this problem seemed to be fixed for the most part, it doesn't appear to be resolved entirely.

I saved the game last night, butd when I went back to check it today I immediately noticed several items were missing. They all seem to be items that were looted from the ground:

- both the bow and sword looted from the ground at the first orc battle (when approaching the first town) are missing. I had these items equipped across both characters. Now their hands are empty.

- the Legionnaire's Handbook (with the crafting recipes in it) obtained from the bridge with the two guards before arriving at the first town. I had placed this on a shelf in the abandoned house within the first town, along with several other books I had collected. They are still there but that book vanished.

- most of the clams/shells I had picked up on my way to the first town. I had placed these within a storage container within the same abandoned house. Other items are still in the container but most of the clams/shells are gone.

- a few other items which I'm not sure about, based on the spaces randomly occupying my inventory now that weren't there before.

One interesting thing to note is that this particular save game folder (of this particular save) is lacking the *.bmp file that provides the thumbnail image for the saved game. It's like the saving process didn't complete correctly, which might explain why items are missing.

Edit: I just want to be clear that this save file was created post 1.0.95 and this problem discovered prior to the delivery of the 1.0.99 patch released today. So, this wasn't a problem with backwards compatibility on older saves.

Actually, after checking further I can confirm that all 8 of the multiplayer saved games I made yesterday are broken. Items are missing from all of them, most of them are missing thumbnail images, and the few that have thumbnail images are showing scenes that are not representative of where the save was made. These are all saves that were made after the 1.0.95 patch was implemented, but prior to the 1.0.99 patch.

Nobody else is running into this problem?

Nope. I made a new game after the patch and haven't noticed any items missing yet.

Still have the Legionnaire's Handbook, and kept the starting sword and bow you find after the orc battle until I sold them. I remember these specific items were ones that would disappear for me too pre-patch

Yes! I'm having the same problem! My saves after the .95 patch are not working. I am missing a lot of items and the pictures for the saves is missing on most.

I really enjoy playing the game otherwise and look forward to playing it again when this problem is fixed.

Are you guys aware that Larian already warned many times that saves might not be update compatibles ? This is an alpha...
If you want to really help, create a brand new game, and then you can check for missing items.

And please ne also aware that hinting a wrong bug can be very time consumming, because it makes you look for something that doesnt exist. Please double check to avoid any waste of time and energy for larian.

Cromcrom, I'm well aware of potential compatibility issues between new updates and older saves. I think, perhaps, you have misunderstood the situation.

Prior to the 1.0.93 update there was a bug that was causing items to disappear after loading a saved game. If you spent any time on the forum earlier this week there were loads of people bringing this to the developers attention.

The 1.0.93 update was released to fix that problem. And it seemed to. But once the 1.0.95 update came out the following day I started running run into (what appears to be) the same old problem all over again.

The current saved game "disappearing items" problems I'm reporting (and I've made this clear at least a few time now in this thread, but apparently you missed that) are from a game that was created after the 1.0.95 patch was implemented, but prior to the release of the 1.0.99 patch (which was a day later). To put it more bluntly, the game was created on the 1.0.95 version of the client, and then subsequently discovered on the 1.0.95 version of the client. This is not a case of an older save being incompatible with a new build, as you're incorrectly assuming and lecturing us about.

Does this problem persist in 1.0.99? I have no idea, as it's clearly hitting people with more randomness and less frequency than when it reared its head prior to the 1.0.93 update (and that is why I've offered my save-game files for analysis if the developers require them). I also know that the 1.0.99 patch was aimed specifically at fixing an unrelated problem and not this. So, I have no reason to believe the problem isn't still there since no new steps have been taken to correct it (other than the release of the 1.0.93 update which obviously has not fixed the problem 100% as originally believed).

Yes, if I have some more spare time I can start a new game in 1.0.99 and see if I run into this problem again. But based on the lack of reports coming from other players, I think it's safe to suggest the bug is harder to stumble across through play this time around. Frankly, I could play a hundred games on version 1.0.99 of the client and not run into it again. And to be perfectly honest, I don't have the free time for that sort of testing. What I do have is 8 consecutively created saved game files from 1.0.95 where items are missing from a multi-hour session - in a game created, played, and saved a day AFTER this bug was supposedly fixed.

Now, if you really want to help, I would suggest that you not just trivialize or dismiss a reported problem simply because you haven't personally run into it, especially when someone is taking the time to present as much detail as possible in an effort to aid in getting to the bottom of a particularly nasty and game breaking bug. Nobody is going to want to play this game at release if there's a problem with saved games losing data.

"Alpha Update V1.0.102 - January 24th 2014

- Fixed issue in inventory screen where items could dissapear"

Would it be possible to go into more details regarding this bug? I'm wondering if it's somehow tied to the problem outlined in this thread.
