I saw this and thought it needed to be addressed. But Lesser Heal and lesser regeneration (or, just regeneration as stated by the skill, and not the book) are the same skill/spell. One is the one of the starting skills/spells of the cleric, and the other is a spell/skill book.

I can have both of them, and I can use both of them. They are the same spell despite the name. I personally don't think that we should have duplicate spells in the game.

This is just one instance, but I'm sure there are others, but I wanted to bring the discussion up.

I believe that, despite the fact that they share the same description & AP cost, they don't have the same effect.

The heal that you can learn with the book is twice as powerfull as the starting "heal" (mage & cleric archetype)

I'm not so sure. The tooltips that were given on the skill icon suggested that they were the same exact thing, doing the same amount of healing. I might be wrong in the fact that the tooltips don't actually display correct data.

Also, shouldn't the book then 'upgrade' the existing spell/skill? I find it kinda... odd that you'd be able to stack up... say different 5 levels of 'regeneration' on your skill bar.

I don't much like that we have what are effectively "starter" spells in general.

I'd much rather a system where you spend your points on spell-class mastery in creation, then pick appropriate spells from a spell book to start with.

Why does my 2/2 air/earth mage have a heal and a fire spell?

The "Starter" skills are require [Mastery] Rank 1, but all spellbooks you can purchase require [Mastery] Rank 2.

The "upgraded" versions may be separate from the normal versions because they might have a higher AP cost and cooldown time, so there may be cases when you'd rather cast the lesser version now instead of waiting to be able to cast a more powerful version.

I definitely want to pick my starter skills myself, but I hope that will eventually be part of character creation.
