I did not complete all possible quests during my first play through in the Black Cove - I missed the hidden button that allows for finding the key to black gate.
That means I left with bunch of stuff to do in this zone.
Now, every time I try to enter again - my game crashes.
(doesn't matter if i try to reenter from the beach side or through the waypoint).

Crashing is a pain.

I had problems going in the other direction. After exploring the cave I could escape via the portal but no matter which other portal I went to, the game would crash as soon as I tried to save. I was only able to fix it by reloading an older save and re-doing the cave. So, unfortunately, I never found exactly which bit was buggy. Sorry I can't be of more use.

But I was then able to successfully return to the cave later.

Parts of the cave do seem a bit erratic. For instance, I'm not sure what was supposed to happen with Billeh Gahr, but it didn't seem to match his threats.

Where do/did you find the button to get the key? I never found either a button or a key, but I managed to get in by exploiting a loophole.

There's a small room to the left of the Black Ominous Gate. If you walk into the right hand corner you can squeeze through a gap at the end of the wall and end up standing on a ledge at the top of the stairs inside the gate. You can't walk directly onto the steps but if you toss a teleport pyramid to the right spot at the top of the steps - bingo, you're in. It works in reverse to get out too.

Billeh Gahr's trap is not working properly in the current version.

In the room past the source abomination
there is a painting on the wall that you can not move; attack it to reveal the button.

I've also been unable to re-enter the cave. I went in, found the wayshrine right there, and paid a visit to town to unload gear and restock supplies (having just gone through that orc fight with three level 5 characters). Of course, I couldn't get back in after that; teleporting or entering via the front just results in a crash while the loading screen is up.

(Yes, I did send in those crash reports, so I hope this can get fixed in the next update!)

Thanks again Raze. It seems that I looked in the right spot first time through but didn't work quite hard enough to get the result! All done now though.

Very disappointed that I didn't actually get to see the effigy bearing your name though. ...

Now that I've finished clearing out the various bits of the cave, I'm back in the same old boat though - I can get back to town but the game crashes if I try to save anywhere.

Ah well, I think I've pretty much explored most of the corners , fought nearly all the fights, and tied up quite a few of the loose ends now. So it's time to call it quits for a month or two and come back with a fresh eye when the game has moved on a bit.

Thanks to Larian for the chance to try a game at Alpha stage, and to all the posters here for posting their experiences, opinions and help. Interesting stuff.
