Hello

after playing DOS for a while, i always try to predict (or keep in mind) how the game-mechanics works with HighLevel-Characters. Normaly (in ordinary games) "GlasCannons" like Mages, Rouges ... are really hard to play during the first hours but get mostly overpowered at the end of the game.

In DOS, after reaching level 10, my Watermage was "skilled out", skill bar full loaded an no enemy is able to survive more than 4 rounds...

On the other hand, the skill bar of my warriors are half empty :p

My Questions here:
  • what will be the "expected" level, to finish the final game.
  • How will the available Skills look like.
  • How will the fights "feel"


i think of a small arena with certain heroes with prepared build and some enemies to test the balancing "in the wild"

During the kickstarter Larian said they were planning on an end level of about 20. There will be more skills available than are currently in the alpha.

How many of the game (area) is currently available through the Alpha? You can reach Level 10 if you solve all current quests. This feels a little strange...

I think they've said about 20-25% of the full game. Recently Swen said in an interview that there would be 5 large maps. The alpha has about 66-75% of one of those maps.

Being able to get to level 10 so soon might seem odd, but my guess is that the level curve hasn't been adjusted yet, in the final we may not be at that high a level from finishing the alpha content. XP required to reach the next level also tends to increase steeply the higher level you get.


EDIT: If I remember right, during the kickstarter, they mentioned level 20 as about the intended max level for the player. I don't know what their final plans are going to be for that, though.

Getting 1,000+ exp multiple times for crossing the same exploration exp trigger more than once sure did not hurt the speed at which I leveled. I assume this will be fixed in tomorrow's update though.

Great game so far, can not wait for the full release quality game myself!

I don't have a source for the level 20 as max level comment yet. I think that was made during the kickstarter. I should reword that statement because I'm not sure that's set in stone.
