I heard ages ago that it was supposed to feature a rotatable, scalable 3D engine. But that was ages ago and I havent heard zip since.

I just reread it. It says there are severe rumors of Fallout 3, even though a weak imation of fallout was placed on the console genre. It goes on and on.

Rumours are flying that Fallout 3 is the Van Burden project. Last time I checked it wasn't in developpement yet. EDIT: Ah, console Fallouts... There was Fallout: Brotherhood of Steel (not Fallout Tactics, which was cool). Fallout fans were disgusted by it. Roughly saying, Fallout: BoS = Half-naked atomic whores with guns.

Woohoo! I didn't know jaggut like Fallout Tactics either. Actually when I saw Fallout: Tactics in stores, I was sure that since the original Fallout team left (not only the Troika people), the game will be something of a Fallout-lite. I was wrong, it's one of the best tactical games ever! As good as Commandos 2 and very close to Commandos 1 <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/up.gif" alt="" />. I'll check the forums, thanks for the info, <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/mage.gif" alt="" /> :0).

<img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/offtopic.gif" alt="" /> dang right it is. good to know i've dispensed useful info albeit inadvertently.
i wasn't sure of the game myself until a friend lended me his. the rest is history as i played it many times, with & without patches. have yet to encounter all special encounters yet so i'll keep playing it.... .
i seriously hope fallout 3 if it does exist will have the same flexibility as FOT so i can play it real time. i never played the game turn-based or squad-based & i still live. it's too easy, yeah.

You guys should both check out Jagged Alliance 2. Its a great modern tactical game as well. Not only do you have 100 different mercs you can hire, all of them have their own personalities. (Some hate each other, some work better with their friends, some go berserk under fire etc). Each one is full voiced and has a whole bunch of lines to spout. Add a good plot, RPG elements and the odd alien and youve got yourself a winner of a strategy game <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggrin.gif" alt="" />

I (re)bought JA2 a while ago (The Gold pack). One of the best games ever <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />! And i believe the Fallout console games just rape the entire fallout universe. Fallout 1 was super, Fallout 2 was excellent, FoT was good (alot of people expected Fallout 3 i suppose but i like Turn based strategy like that) but those Console games are just awful...
I hope F3 is more than just wishfull thinking.

I hope F3 is more than just wishfull thinking. I wonder... Interplay is dying, Black Isle is part of Interplay and the original fallout team left... I think Fallout 3 is never to be... Of course everything may change.

I doubt we will see a Fallout 3 (Which would suck) since the 3 main creaters no longer work for Interplay.
They have started there own company Troika and have released Arcanum a while ago which seems to expand a bit on the Fallout game play style and they are now working on Dungeons & Dragon: Temple of Elemental Light which will again have the Fallout style of gameplay
Zagreus sits inside your head
Zagreus lives among the dead
Zagreus sees you in your bed
and eats you when you're sleeping
Zagreus at the end of days
Zagreus lies all other ways
Zagreus comes when times a maze
and all of history is weeping

are now working on Dungeons & Dragon: Temple of Elemental Light which will again have the Fallout style of gameplay And Vampire: The Masquerade Bloodline. Grayhawk: Temple of Elemental Evil, btw, and it will have nothing to do with Fallout. It has the D&D system, not S.P.E.C.I.A.L. and has a party. More BG2 than Fallout.

Ok, here are some rumors. Some private detectives from RPGDot.com have searched deep in Interplay forums and have found this theme http://forums.interplay.com/viewtop...0&postorder=asc&start=15 , dated June 17, 2003. In this post, some J.E. Sawyer shares his thoughts on some project named Van Buren, making so many connections to Fallout series, that mr. detective from RPGdot made his final verdict: Van Buren - is a secret name of Fallout 3 himself, the great and the mighty! Will wait for further details of this investigation. (I have found this information from russian web site http://www.xaos.ru/news.php?news=9791) And even more info on Van Buren at No Mutants Allowed from August 01, 2003: http://www.nma-fallout.com/

Ah yes, Van Buren... I remember 2 years ago I was told Van Burden is Fallout 3. At that time there even was this note from Black Isle: Van Buren is not in production Fallout 3 is not in production Later Interplay(not black isle) kept saying "Fallout 3 is not Van Buren" but no one believed it. I wonder what's the status on Van Buren.

No mutants Allowed intervewed J.E. Sawyer, where they tried to discuss Van Buren and Fallout 3 as different projects. And as a result - nothing new on Van Buren, but for Fallout 3, there are some new details from the point of view "If we would have been making it then ..." - In character development the player will be able to choose between humans, ghouls and super-mutants - Story line will not be connected to Vault Dweller / Chosen One - That would be a sequel, i.e. after Fallout 2. http://www.nma-fallout.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1133After all this we can only guess what will and what will not be in new game. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/think.gif" alt="" />
