Hey guys, tried the beta last night, and the progress has been amazing.
I love all the new customization options (clearly not finished, too). However, will the final version have a skinnier male model? For that matter, how about a buffer female model?
All in the name of variety.

I have a strong suspicion all the equipment in the game has been created with particular body shapes in mind. So, making a new body type wouldn't just be a case of a new character model, it would also require reworking all the armor sets as well in order to create an additional variant (for slimmer male characters).
And that's a lot of work.

Yes, I agree. There needs to be more choice regarding body types, because as it is now the male character looks rather ridiculous. Why would a mage be so unrealistically buff?

Body building mage totally the best mage. Needs to train his body before training his mind and he got really, really into training his body. Give him some manly facial hair for best results.

I don't see anything attractive about such unrealistic buffness. It might have worked if Roderick and Scarlett were the decided and stiff characters (ranger and warrior?), but now that we have much more freedom and customization options it can't be simply left like that. Larian was able to give us different body-types in Beyond Divinity as well.

definitely, I understand people who prefer a skinny thief, rogue or wizzard, even if it is just cosmetic

i concur we need more body types, and also they need to fix clipping of some robes - the red one for example

I agree I would really like to see more customization for roleplaying sake. Also, there aren't enough pictures for characters....none of them really look like either one of them.

Larian is going to add more portraits, even if I believe it's impossible to consider every single skin/hair/face-colour-combination. I wonder what they will do in the end. The more I think about the issue with the stiff body types, the more unnerved and worried I become. Ugh.

Any chance we can have a dev comment on this?
To me the issue doesn't make or break the game, but it'll severely ruin the immersion factor.

I agree. I'd like to see more body types, at the very least tone down how swoll Roderick is. His muscle size doesn't fit the rogue I want to create nor a mage for future characters. I would love to see more body type for the female character as well (can't remember her name offhand).
P.S Is it just me or did this most recent update seem to make both the characters more cartoony then previous builds?

I wouldn't want to see his frame changed. Adding additional body types, sure (although I have serious doubts that's going to happen because all the armor sets seem to be built with a particular body size in mind rather than conforming dynamically). No skinny warriors, please.
