I also found the difficulty a little bit too high ...

It's difficult to place them in correct order, but my favourite games are :
- Planescape Torment - Fallout 2 - Thief (nobody really mentioned this great game) - Diablo - Wing Commander - Prophecy - X-Com
There are lots of great games, but this is what I can recall.

Did looking glass ever do a bad game?
Even the little known Terra Nova was a top title.

Mandrake Ohh yes. I could easily leave PST out of my list, as it goes without saying
MasterD Uups, missed it Glad, I am not alone with my sympathies to theese excellent games.
But, list can be really long as industry has been releasing at least one or two great games yearly since, hmm, nineties
And, another great game - Dragon's Lair. It was first released on CD-Interactive, and later on PC. Very funny looking game

Thanks, I already finished the demo Found it on some download sites. It's not bad - but difficult in the beginning. When you level you only get 1 skillpoint and there are so many skills I didn't know what to choose. After reading some sites I managed to create a cool char. Have to get the full version Thief isn't a RPG game. Wasn't this top10 all about RPGs? Well, I never impose my favorite games to anyone. If you want you can find the demo arround sierra but since you didn't like Fallout, I doubt you should try Arcanum...

Originally, this poll was about isometric rpg games. Then again, the first poster also mentioned Crusader: No Remorse and Crusader: No Regret, both aren't RPG games, just isometric action games.
Then the poll sort of grew into RPG games, or just plain fantasy games into about any genre really.
Thief isn't an RPG, but it's still more fantasy RPG like than for example Crusader: No Remorse, or Half Life.

As HandEFood, I gave my top 10 games.
I heard Crusader mentioned often. What is it anyway?

I heard Crusader mentioned often. What is it anyway? Was released in DOS era still. Made by Origin, basically you had this futuristic setting where the World Economic Consortium (WEC) controls everybody, except the rebels of course. You're "Silencer" guy in a red suit of armour, basically one of the bad guy's paracomandos. Because you failed catching some rebels, they sent this big robot with twin machine guns after you. Both your partners die (there's three of you, arguing about that they'll kill you for losing track of the rebels). But you were an inch smarter than them and dodged the slaughter. You then join the rebels and go out to kill. - That's the intro of the first one (Crusader: No Remorse). For it's time, this game had good graphics, isometric of course. You had arsenals varying from regular machine guns till rocket launchers or plasma guns. Usually you'd have to find keys to open doors and blow up stuff. The later which you could do a lot btw. Have a rocket launcher? Spot that weak door? Yup, you can blow it up. It also had nice inventions like rolling, spider mines, more blowing up, etc. Furthermore there were security cameras, traps and an array of enemies varying from weak guards to heavy security robots. A few new things were introduced in the expansion/sequel: Crusader: No Regret. In the sequel you end up in a spacestation after the events of the first game. It was sold as an a full new game, but overall should've been an expansion though. Still, it had more of the same fun. I never go the play the second game beyond the demo, but the first game was freaking awesome. It's not an RPG, but few games can rival it's gameplay even up to now. Oh and did I mention it wasn't easy either? And for that time, the music in this game rocked as well. I remember just sitting in the setup screen to hear the music. The flesh eating gun was quite fun too. You shot and basically everything was eaten away in a second or two. Checking online, it was also released for Playstation and Sega Saturn apparently, though I didn't know that. I also found a link with some screenshots right here.

Looks like I really should try to get Arcanum and Planescape Torment... The first one is easy. The second one not No shop in whole Belgium (:p) sells that game. Buying via internet is possible, but I am not going to import the game...

I have the original version, but I don't like parting with it. The interesting thing is, the original (unpatched) version is 4 cds. The later version is patched and uses only 2 cds. They used BG2's packing technique on PST and obviously it worked.

just thinking about how much noise there was surrounding Neverwinter Nights, and yet it only made it onto three peoples list...wonder what happened to it, i thought it was fine
But then again, me =
Moonlight flitters in night dark,
the unheard sound of elven feet.
Firelight flickers in bar bright,
the sloshing of Dwarven brew.
No light but that of eye,
the dragon warden endures.
