Yes, the patch is still in the CDV testdepartment. Let's hope we can release it very soon now...

Heyo. I pulled this out of the german section of the forum and translated as best I could (with help). This is the only direct response from CDV about the patch that I have seen. It seems that CDV plans on taking their own sweet time with this. I will let you judge for yourself, but my experience is when someone comes up with this many excuses, it usually means they haven't had a chance to do much yet:

Marlene's info from CDV

So, there is still someone who reads and replies to emails at CDV.

Here is the mail I just received:

>>Sehr geehrte Frau xxx,<<

Dear mrs. xxx,

I can thoroughly understand your frustration at the long wait on the announced patch, I probably would feel the same way.

Why you, and all of the other "Divine Divinity" fans are still awaiting the patch are for the following reasons:

Everyone said that the patch has not yet ironed out all reported mistakes (bugs?), and should introduce NO new mistakes if possible, and to remove the mistakes, both technical and substantive (gameplay) in nature, Divine Divinity must be played all the way through with all of the possible variations of quests, classes, and stats, skills etc., to become thoroughly tested and verified. And the complex and non-linear game structure means that "Divine Divinity" cannot be tested in a few hours.

I can tell you this, the patch is still being worked on, and we will announce it's release to you in a few weeks. I would like to thank you for your patience and your kindness, and would be happy if you would bring to our attention any other worries and needs of the "Divine Divinity" community.

>>>Mit freundlichem Gruß
Ihr CDV Team <<<

Sincerely,
your CDV team

*sigh* I personally would lobby for Larian to give up on CDV and release their current version of the patch as a private beta for some of the gung-ho gamers around here to try out, but that's just me.

cheers,

Thanks Sir Toejam! I am surprised they didn't release some "beta" patch to some of the die-hards here (And other forums). But oh well, here's to hoping it does get to us soon! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggrin.gif" alt="" />

Disappointing response I'd say, so from a "late february" to a "oh we'll get to it"... guess I'll put away DD and come back now and again to see if there's a patch.

Sad to hear you feel that way vagrantpanda. I have quite enjoyed DD in it's current state.

While a patch takes quite a long time to test it is good to hear they are atleast still working towards one, instead of just giving up and calling the game complete (Like a few games I could mention *cough*)

With such a complex game like DD it is no wonder a patch is taking quite a long time, and I understand that.

just my 2p

I prefer they test it long and give us a good patch than if they would do it quick and the game would have mor problem than before

There is always hope
