gave myself a level of witchcraft to see if I could learn the lockpicking spell. When when i tried it on a chest, it says 0, my lockpicking level too low.

So what's the point of the spell if you also need the skill?

It's to open Magic Locks. I think there's exactly one in Cyseal. Who knows how many are elsewhere.
