I'm gald you did a bit more than just see a dragon fly in a swamp! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> Welcome back.

I've decided. I'm going to look forward to holidays too.

Thank you. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

Yes, you should try to get a vacation too; it is very refreshing and makes you tolerate the intolerable.

Mathmatically, I don't know what the armour rating does. I think it absorbs an amount of damage. But higher is better!

I think you are correct. The percentages on the armor is the chance of that piece's armor rating to be used in the equation. The armor value is how much damage is absorbed (or a representation of the amount absorbed)

I think this because I wore the same armor from level 2 to level 15. It got very hard needless to say. Then I upped my armor by a factor around 4 times (something like from 40 to 160). Enemies that were able to kill me in one hit, now took two or three hits to kill me. But, I did not notice them hitting me less. That is a factor of your defense value.

But, I am not the programmer, and can't be 100% sure.

The only real thing you need to know about the armor count...high count good...low count not so good. Unless there are some really good imbued properties in it.

I agree with that. As far as the maths can be examined, higher is better.

I've been wondering this myself, it's a shame it was never explained, (leastwise I haven't found anything about it). Some people like to have a good solid feel for the technical values of items so that they can strategically tool up, myself for example.

Saying 'higher is better' doesn't mean much when I'm trying to decide if I want a piece of armor with alot of stat bonuses, (such as bonuses to my agility/defense), or a piece of armor with smaller bonuses but a much higher armor rating.

Oh well, I doubt it can be explained at this point, but it's a real shame.

Knowing the mechanics for a pc game's combat system can be very helpful, if only for testing whether or not it works properly. (important for a game like DD where people have found that some of the combat skills don't add their bonuses correctly).

*sigh*
