It seems the "good" Dr. Elrath and Larian has seen fit to make me laugh. In his first little part of his basement I found this:

Snake's Dwarven Helmet of the Atreides
Durability 12/12
Weight 20
Armor 130
20 Percent Chance of Absorbing Damage
+15 Resistance to Poison
Skin of Poison +1
Required Strength 35

If I knew how to post this pic I would, but unfortunetly I do not. I saved on another file and loaded my old game quite a few times to see if I could get better stats (being a Dune fan and all). But never found it again, too bad though, would have liked keeping that one. Haven't seen this one in any of the other posts, though with the save/load sequences I did, it seems this is pretty random

"If I knew how to post this pic I would"

Ctrl+F11 will create a screenshot in the 'capture' subfolder ('..\Divine Divinity\Run\capture'). Then you need an image editor to crop and convert to jpg. There are several very good freeware programs you can use, if you do not already have one. For simple image cropping or re-sizing, IrfanView or XnView. More elaborate editing (layers, etc.) can be done with Pixia or the GIMP.
After this, you need some web space to put the image. Your ISP may offer space for a homepage. If not, see free web host with hotlinking? (for avatars). Some of the recommended sites may have changed their policies, but any free web site would at least let you link to an html page with the picture, if not directly to it.

PS I believe you, even without a picture. Also, text descriptions are searchable, while screen shots are not, so unless there is a unique graphic for the helmet it may not be worth the effort.

i had that helm before in my previous game but forgot about it soon after... . at first i thought it was pure coincidence that the word artreides was there.

didn't know somebody in larian likes dune as well. maybe it's a clue that someday larian might produce a RTS game like what they did before? or just homage?

Wow. I though the word Atreides may have another origin, but I can't find a thing! It really must be from Dune. So, is Atreides Poison Resistance or Skin of Poison?

artreides is a race of people from the planet artreides(obviously) in the world of dune. there are 2 others: harkonnen(brutish-industrial) & ordos(techno-economy). actually ordos is hardly or maybe never mentioned in frank herbert's books. this i'm not so sure. dunyain may know more.

referring to the first post, the helm has both poison resistance & skin of poison(useful especially for the wrestling & merc guild quests). don't know why artreides is connected to poison but then maybe it's just namesake.

I think it stands for the Skin of Poison. I believe Snake and Spider represent Poison Resistance.

I think Ordos is mentioned breifly in the books and Westwood Studios added them into Dune 2 for the sake of the game. The first Dune game was far better though. House Atredies is actually from the planet Calladan, a very wet planet. House Harkonnen are from, at a forgotten guess, Grimera Prime, a hostile mountainous world. Can anyone confirm this?

handefood, u got the second part right for harkonnen. i think it's geidi(sounds like it though) prime. u're right on the planet calladan for the artreides. i forgot.

the planet of the harkonnen are volcanic & ruined as they are destroying it in the name of industrialisation. the planet for the ordos are icy & cold like their hearts.

Yes the Ordos are not mention'd very much in Frank Herbert's books. Though they are very much like the Ixians, wonder if they just exchanged the two? I think the Atreides correlation is for the skin of poison. Though I guess drawing wildly from the books it could be all the times that they have been backstabbed (Suk Doctor), so I think it would make sense. Guess its time to read them all again.

I've read the books, House Ordos doesn't exist in them, they were an add on for the gamne by Westwood.

Thats what I thought though it seems there is a correlation between them and the Ix, though why they didn't use Ix is beyond me

The House of Ix is more of a seller and trading house, they deal with many major and minor houses within the imperium including House Corrino, they wouldn't have to engage in war since they make mass profits of of this trade.

Also if you read the Prequal books The House of Ix was in no real state to bolster an army to take over an entire planet. (I know these weren't written when Dune 2 was made but I like to share relevant information)

House Ix is in Dune 2. When you build the Star Port, House Ix delivers the goods.
